A basic army Jeep requested by AlCosta. I need some opinions from him or the general CFC about which way to go on adding removing 2 things; the windshield and the axles.

1 - Should I removed the center poly and have an open windshield or skin it light blue ala glass even though it won't be see through?
2 - Should I add axles and the 50 or so polys or simply have the wheels hovering in the wheelwells like in this pick?

I dont see the point in Axels, they would never been seen, I would go with the windshield folded down and empty, also the back as its kinda empty. Your skills our improving elf, this is the first realy realistic and well proportioned model i've seen you make. :goodjob:

Thanks Impaler. What sort of stuff would go in the back? Just some boxes, ie - simply low-poly count items?

Looks good so far. If you want to reduce polygons I have a few suggestions:
Reduce wheels, 8 or 10 sided cylinder with the same smoothing group should be enough. The grill can be simulated with texture, no need to model it unless you dont have a texture for it. I agree with Impaler, don't model axles.
About the windshield. You can make it half transparent by changing opacity to 70 or so. It's tricky and not recommended because you need separate material for it. Anather way would be to find a texture of some landscape and make it seem like a reflection on glass.
The back looks kind of empty. How about MG or gas canisters?

Thanks sharick. I had another screenie to post, but now I'm going to go back and reduce the wheel cylinders from 18 to 10. Opacity is out of my league still so I'll go with removing the windshield poly.

A box and 2 cylinders in the back sounds about right.

Preview pic number 2. The tires are lower poly, the windshield is gone, no axles, and some stuff added to the back. It will look like there is a wheel with the tire from skinning since there is an inside poly on the tires.

Very nice woodelf :goodjob: I still think you could reduce the entire front to just a flat panel but that's just nitpicking :)

I get hung up on beveling at times. :)

AlCosta said he'd worry about the driver so I'm holding him to it. :p

I want to test it in game, but the skin is done so it'll be in the units section soon.

You could put a machine gun on a swivel post on the back. :)
