yeah its supposed to be a Medival Swordsman; though right now on views without much shield cover, it looks suspiciously like a roman soldier :crazyeyes
I don't know what you have in mind for the ADM for these guys but I was thinking that the game definitely needs them. Something in between the swordsman and the musketman, like a dismounted knight. Maybe a 3-4-1 ADM. I hope you finish up your graphics.
I don't know about the 3-4-1 ADM. That's the same as the French Musketeer, which would effectively negate the bonus for the French. Maybe there's another place for it or different stats it could have.
Yes well the stats are way too tight together at the bottom to come up with anything else besides something like 3-4-1. All the possibilities are used up. I suppose they didn't want to glob things up, but the Civ 2 concept of Firepower might have been used to differentiate a Middle Ages Men-at-Arms from a Musketeer, just like they should've done something about Caravels sinking Submarines. A good combat/unit mod is definitely in order for Civ3. I love the game, just want it to get better. I hope someone has the extra lifetime to do it.

You're right, datarush. Although I never did really understand "firepower" in Civ II, something to give an added advantage to modern units would be appreciated. Maybe they should have made the stats higher to allow more room to tinker (although a 24-16-3 Civ II unit would've been way too powerful, so I guess they kinda already did that).
i think your unit looks really good, i want to start making units for my game such as a new rifleman unit when you discover gunpowder ( there were riflemen in the napoleonic wars, nick named green jackets)
actually i was thinking of making them nearly exact as knights, just not mounted, so only 1 movement. but im gonna redo alot of my unit figures anyway, so im not sure yet.
thanks for the compliments; im improving it by making it less shiny (chain mail instead of plate); and im giving the unit a leather tunic with civ colors on them
Bjorn, what's with the negativity? Those pictures look great! Personally, I can't stand the way the original swordsman looks in the game, so if you finish they'll probably end up replacing the default graphics for this. Keep up the great work!
