I know Australia was the first country to buy them from the UK.
they came with 20 pounder guns and Besa machine guns, but we replaced the besa machine guns with .30 calibre Browning Machine guns.
They adapted better to the harsh terrain here than the leopards, which we also purchased.
However the centurions were phased out in 1977.
They were then replaced by leopards (much improved)
I'm not sure what we use here now.
Sorry I don't know much about other countries.
I do know they saw extensive deployment in Vietnam.
Probably not much help though!
Oh and I know many of the units that returned from vietnam (damaged) had the turrets removed and were turned into driiver training vehicles.

So far its Australia and Sweden who imported them (what I know of) and as your army did, Sweden replaced it with Leopard 2 and Leopard 2 A6 a few years ago.

OmniMower: they were a cool looking tank, I know there are several restored ones around australia in museums and memorial sites.
I have seen some pictures on the web if they would be of any help.
I can't wait to see your final product, I have the aussies in my game as a civ and would love to replace their tank with the centurion

So far as I can tell, one model or another of Centurion has been exported to Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ghana, India, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Somalia, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland - at a minimum. Most of its combat service (outside of Korea) was with India and Israel it seems.

Nah, not really- just asked coz Smoking Mirror has a different scale to the tanks of Kinboat (just to mention two great unit creators ) and I find it hard to incorporate some of their units due to the relative disparity in sizel... Would be great if the units are somewhat based on the size of the in-game units- that's all

I've got my old plastic Centurion model sitting on my computer monitor here... it's remarkable how similar it looks. You've done a fantastic job so far. I noticed that you havent put on the front geared wheel. But the rest of the chassis is very well done. Other than the front wheel, I don't think I'd change anything.
And I agree with W.I.N.T.E.R. about trying to keep it similar to the Firaxis tank in size.
And on a side note, if Canada had Centurions, which I can't recall right now, then we must have had only a few of them. Or maybe only one After all, our entire military consists of less than 60,000 troops. It really stretches us to do Peacekeeping missions...

I know this is a tweensy bit off the topic of the centurion but here's a picture of a tank called the AC3 Sentinel which was actually developed in australia during WWII.
There was a point when invasion of Australia by the Japanese seemed imminent, and england could not produce enough tanks to supply Australia, so several Sentinel models were developed, 3 prototypes of this unit were made but it was never put to production, because the american production suddenly hit an all time high and Australia bought tanks from the US instead.
The Sentinel had a 25 pound howitzer mounted in turret. In this picture the MG which should be present in the hole below the turret at the front was removed. The 3 engines were given a single crankcase. It appeared in 1943.
