Some people love to sleep, others love action, some love food, others would starve for days in order to attarct a mate. What is your strongest "primal urge"?

It was a tough choice, choosing between food and sex. In the final analysis, I had to choose food. I'm one of those people who have trouble eating in moderation. Actually, I don't have any moderation whatsoever. I can moderate sex if necessary, but not food. Therefore, food won the top spot.

(just don't tell my wife)

Everything.......EVERYTHING.....revolves around sex. Most of what we do....especially us guys....has either a conscious or subconscious root in sex...to at least some degree.

Of course, we HAVE to eat to live....but nature has built into us a 'primal urge' to reproduce.

I think it comes down to everything eatable, really. Food is like drugs, we're all heavily dependant of it. Imagine wild hordes of people going bananas, following a week without food. You would eat everything moving.

As to sex, what about male creatures who don't feel the need to reproduce? Not that one's one of them. :D

Dunno. They're all pretty close.
* I might say "food" because I love to eat. I consider myself an aficionado of salsas, onion dips, pizzas and cheeses... but there are times I'm closer to sewer than connoisseur.
* I might say "sex" but like they say: sex is like oxygen, when you've got it, it's no big deal... And when you're not, you're freakin dyin' (ahh, the bad old days.).
* I might say "sleep." I do tend to stay up late writing, playing (take that how you will...). Sometimes I get up after a three-hour nap and go to work, other times are more luxuriant. I've gone for three days without sleep just for grins --and I go into a freakin' coma when I'm done. Just ain't that young anymore, dang it. Yet for all the recreational sleep-deprivation I've endured, I can't tell you what a pleasure it is wake up at the crack of lunch. I dunno, some of you probably already know...
* But I voted "adrenaline." There's something about the rush. Especially since my wife seems to be a genetically DRD2/DRD4-positive thrill-seeker. It doesn't hurt that it becomes a type of foreplay, too. We're intelligent about it -- there's enough daily risk just driving down to pick up a gallon of milk -- so we set up redundant anchors, etc., and really put the "calculated" into the "risk," but there's always that chance Murphy will show up... and that, I suppose, is what makes it exciting...

Sorry, but I think this kind of Freudian psychology is simply nonsense.
A whole lot of things I do are certainly not connected to sex, neither consciously nor subconsciously.

An example for that is eating, which is much more than just a necessity.

I like to say sex, but althought I still get 3 meals a day, my wife seems to have put me on a more restricted plan for sex. Checked my pulse and I'm still alive and it has been three days on this "diet".

I chose the one that I need but at the same time annoys me most!
SLEEP!

This activity takes away all my precious time, of which I never have enough. And no matter how long I sleep, I´m usually quite tired at some point of the day.
:D

Sleep.

The rest comes and goes, but ah, sleep, that's the best.

Sex is the base instinct that all of us even down to plants and some micro-organisms share, to pass on your genes to the next generation of your species and is ingrained into our subconcious. Just like how when you smell garbage the molecules of garbage don't have any smell ut your receptors in your nose tell your brain that 'this is bad' and therefore gives it that particular bad odour. Humans have evolved to do this (along with every other animal with a nose) And eating is important but for us that should be common sense shouldn't it?

Adrenaline junkie...working out with LOUD music on really gives me a buzz. Only wish I'd found this out earlier...guess I am making up for lost time right now :)

Certainly better than getting it from driving my car like a loonie...which I certainly HAVE been guilty of most days

Hell yeah. Me too! Lately I've been too lazy and uninspired to excersize though. A large portion of it is due to the fact that...
(1) I'm sick of hearing all my old music
(2) Everything on American radio is garbage

Anyone got any ideas of good workout music. I like rock (like Red Hot Chilli Peppers), hip-hop (GangStar, Outkast) and good dance music (nothing specific jumps to mind, I like it without words but not all annoying and repetative like techno).

I know I am leading my own thread off topic here but any ideas?

On topic I will say that I can't really choose. Right now my #1 urge is food, its the quickest, easiest way to gain at least a little physical pleasure and instant gratification. Action is #2 followed by sex and sleep is at the bottom of my list (I only like sleep because it helps me stay alert to enjoy everything else). Actually I like dreams too, if it weren't for dreams sleep would be pointless. I love dreaming, it seems the more boring my life is, the more exciting and stimulating my dreams are. Needless to say I've had some cool dreams lately :D.

Sex. Followed by food. Growling stomachs aren't always a turn-on.

Doughnuts would be my instinct, :D but...

In the end, food. The first communities of human beings were organized because they could more effeciently have food. It is also known that humans have a gene that urges them to eat things that have a high salt and fat content, since when we were cavemen, these things were rare.

After that, sex. Why eat and live if you couldn't have sex?
