Just pick up this interesting news item at http://pc.ign.com/news/36499.html Seems like Prince Charles of Britain has a thing against computer games and more importantly, against people who play computer games. The good people of IGN are making fun of him right now. I am sure you guys will have lots and lots of comments. Let it rip.

Edit: I fixed your link.

That's just the kind of silly thinking that comes from centuries of inbreeding.

I wish I was born into so much money I didn´t need to get a job ever...I´d always be playing games...so good self-retraint on his part.

But his taste in women means that he probably isn´t the world´s greatest thinker.

According to civfanatics english women come pretty low down the desirability index!

Yes, bonny prince Charley is a bastion of class, intellegence, and good morals, isn't he?

Just an aside on gullibility, since 80% of the copy in the article is a joke, why would anyone here not assume, until better information, that the remaining 20% is not a joke?

Did I mention that I love the spellchecker?

Was he drunk when he said that or is he like that all the time?

Well, you know the old saying... 'You can learn alot from a dummy'... like how to brush your teeth.

Yes, definitely some creative editing. Here's a "real" version with the exact context of the quote:

Charles, AP version

New quote from IGN:

"Gamers says Prince Charles are for Dummies"

Why do we care what a drunk old fool that unfortunately became Crown Prince of England says?

Well, having read both versions, it still seems to me that Prince Chuckie is taking a cheap shot at computer gaming. Perhaps he is not aware that it can lead to computer literacy, a highly desirable thing, n'est pas?

Still, I can hardly find fault in an effort ot wean people off Harry Potter and onto literature, as long as they stay away from the ever-dry, eternally long-winded, and ultimately stultifying Tolstoy. Could War and Peace have been a little longer please? I mean seriously...
Now if they were passing out Heinlen and Aasimov...that would be something.

People in America rarely know or care what Prince Charles thinks or says these days. Fortunately, I think most people in America don't judge most Britons by the example of their would-be king.

I'm not for prince charlie.

Clearly I'm not against computer gaming.

I do agree though that education needs to include books. Rising levels of illiteracy in the industrialized world is a cause for concern. A good education is always balanced, too much time in front of a computer can be a bad thing if it means not enough time reading and writing.

As for prince charlie giving us advice...

Really I don't see what all of you have against Prince Charles... Well to say the truth I also believed he was pretty dumb until some time ago so I don't blame you.

What changed my mind then?
Well Charles has a passion with gardening and...so does my mother So one day she bought the book P.C. had written about his personal garden in Highrove. The pictures of what he had done were magnificent and I could see that Charles has a very nice taste. But that wasn't what changed my mind. It's the preface that touched me. But again not because it was written in perfect English but because I saw that this man talked from his heart. I saw a man that was grateful for what he had. Someone who had feelings. True feelings.
I don't know why but sometimes when you read something you understand a lot on the author's character...
