I have Brother HL-1440 laser printer. starting from yesterday, the print outs all have 3 small dots about the size of a soy bean running down the center of the page from top to bottom.
Is this an indication that the ink is going to run out or what?

Have you tried cleaning the heads?

I just cleaned the heads. still have the dots. they are 3 very organized dots, in a straight line down the center of the page. weird.

Something similar kept happening on my old printer, especially after using sub-standard ink cartridges.

Try printing off a few sheats, I found that it sometimes went away, but eventually I just bought a nice new printer, and it is just awesome!

but this catridge is the original that comes with the printer and hasn't been behaving like this up to this point.

has it been refilled? my printer did almost the same thing after i used a refilled catridge. a new catridge fixed that bu that might not be the case for you

nah, it is still running on the catridge that came with the printer.

I just bought a new laser printer today and something came to mind when I read the manual. Have you tried redistributing the toner, by removing the the toner and shake it from side to side a few times. Or it could be time to replace it.
