Problem adding new units - they smoke

I added a bunch of new units to my mod recently. When they are sitting idle, they continuously emit a small amount of black smoke. Is this normal?

It doesn't happen with every unit, and it seems to only happen to "mechanized" units like tanks and armored cars. Some of the units that do it are the German Mk III tank and SdKfz222 armored car.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to stop this from happening?

maybe you should convert them to more fuel efficient vehicles:lol:, but maybe its just the exhaust fumes

I think some of the unit makers use the attachable damage smoke as exhaust, etc. while the vehicle is idle. Using nifcope or nifviewer, I removed that attachable to keep the unit from smoking in the game.

Yeah, I thought of that (exhaust fumes). Is there an option to tune them up so they run better? :mischief:

Whether it's on purpose or not, I'd like to get rid of it if possible.

Thanks Acronym2, I'll take a look at those programs and see what I can do.

I don't know anything about editing graphic files. Is the process for removing the attachable damage smoke pretty obvious?

The process is quite simple - open the unit up in nifscope, find somthing called Attachable_Smoke or Dummy_Attachable_Smoke and kill it in a honorable fight...

However, these dummies are usually there to represnt the unit smoking when damaged, so unless the units you are talking about are damaged, them emitting smoke probably indicates a animation problem... So perhaps contacting the author would be a good idea.

Thanks everybody for the help. That worked.

I just right clicked on ATTACHABLE_DAMAGE_SMOKE and selected "clear" from the transform menu. I have no idea what it did, but it worked.
