Problem playing civ4

Heey guys and marry chrismas. I have this problem with civ4 that i hope you can help me with. Here goes: Every time i try to start the game i get the error message(Failed to Initialize Renderer - Check DirectX and graphics settings)

But the fact is, that i have the newest driver for my videocard(Ati Radeon 9600) and all other games work fine, except this civ4. I have directX 9c(Or what ever it is called these days) and my pc has all of the required specs that i needed. So plz help me

You're welcome. I hope it fixes your problem.

Also, one other thing I'd suggest is to download an older version of the ati drivers rather than the latest ones like suggested. Someone here discovered that this version runs much better with civ.

Well the problem is now that in one of the steps i have to use the ATi Uninstall utility and i have that program. But i don't know how to use it(And do'nt know what i have to do, sp i can locate that program) Beside that i can't find help i need on ati.com to remove the drivers manualy
