Problem starting after installation

Hey all, new here. First some background.

I installed the demo online and liked what I saw, so I bought the game with the Thrones & Patriots Expansion. After installing the complete game, when I open the start screen with "learn to play", "conquer the world", "solo play", etc. buttons, nothing happens. The mouse moves and the button depresses when I click, but the screen just stays there. I tried downloading the patch (1.03 I think), but it said the game was already patched. I did a complete uninstall, both from the cd and add/remove programs. I uninstalled the demo and re-installed the disc. Same thing. Please advise, as I am dying to play!!! Thanks.

Try using the check for update in game. There is a 1.04 patch that isn't available outside the game.

Does it happen in both games? Try it in the base game then try it in the expansion.
