Question that I can seem to understand. I had been playing on prince for a while and had not one one as of yet. So I decided to give it another crack, but was going to go down to noble, however, the screen that you choose the difficulty level is gone and I have tried everything I can from reinstalling to googling and looking for what is going on and why I can't choose the difficulty level anymore. I checked the options at the main splash screen as I thought maybe I turned something off by accident, but I didn't see anything. Am I just being stupid here? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to play, Thanks

The difficulty is not set in the main menu. When you start a new game, you go through the following options:
Single player -> Play Now -> Select a map -> World size -> <some map options> -> Select a civilization -> Your details -> Game snapshot. In the last step you can modify speed and difficulty.
