problem with importing maps

I have a slight problem. I'm playing ToT and i enable the cheat menu but it won't let me import maps. it lets me export them just fine but not import them. any idea why?

also, is there any way to use the different Terrain tiles from ToT in the Civ II map editor? thanks

As for the first question... Do you get any kind of error message, can't you select the menu item, or does the importing simply do nothing.

And as for the second... Nope. Well, unless you edit the terrains from the different games into the Terrain1.gif and Terrain2.gif in the map editor directory.

When i try to import maps the command just does nothing. Exporting works fine. and if i choose select map it just cycles through the four maps i already have in the game. what i want to do is be able to take a map back and forth between ToT and the map editor.

Hmmm, yes... I have it too. The import command only seems to work with the Original and Extended Original games.

Oh wait a minute, I know why you can't import in the other games. Importing a map adds it as another map in the game. You can't replace or remove existing ones. Since ToT can only have 4 maps, importing can only work for games with less than 4 maps in it.

that doesn't make sense you can't start a game with less then four maps so when would you ever use the import map command?

If you want to create a scenario and decide to add a few maps along the way, I guess.
I didn't say it made any sense. But I don't know of any way to remove/replace a map (from within ToT anyway).
