I used to play colonize a lot on my old 486 66mhz computer a while ago..

Then suddenly I started to miss it a lot!

I got a copy of the game, and was echstatic:D !!!!

However: I couldent play it because I had insufficcient memory!!

Please help me!! I know that I have to edit the autoexec.bat, but I havent done that in years!!

What do I do??

Are you playing it from within Windows, or do you exit to DOS? Also, what version of Win are you running?

I have a pc with windows 95 ... rather old one, pentium 2..

Ive tried to start it in both dos and windows...

Hmm... Try this: Put a short-cut to the MS-DOS prompt on your desktop. Right click on it, then select propeties and click on the memory tab. Set everything to it's highest. That should work, but I can't garuntee it.

Thanks for the responses, but it still doesnt work....

Think Ill just accept the fact that I will never colonize america again:cry:

Maybe I should explain myself a little better.

If you just start the MS-DOS prompt and write
Code:
mem /c > c:\capture.txt
that willl create a file c:\capture.txt that tells what apps that use the memory. If you post it here someone might be able to help you.

Try starting your PC in step (option 4)
yes to all .sys (first option) no to bootlog.txt yes to number 3 (something about .sys or himem), yes to mem386.*, no to CD-drive, sound, etc...
no to autoexec.bat and no windows .
I do this with my dos version and it works ("no" to autoexec.bat won't let you have memory wasted in things you won't use).
If it doesn't work do a memaker in DOS. and try it again.
If you didn't understand i've said (i wasn't very clear) do this with someone that knows what is doing.

I dout the guy ever got it to work... But in case anyone wants to know I was in the same situation and all I did was install it change the properties to make it to where when I clicked on the short cut it went straight to DOS... when I left the prog it just restarted and went back to windows...
