Problems with Menu Interface

I recently purchased a new laptop and was excited to install Civ 4 on it, however, upon installing Beyond the Sword I was confronted by a lack of menu backgrounds. I've tried changing the graphics settings as well as uninstalling both the vanilla game and BTS but nothing so far has worked. I'm certain that my laptop can handle the graphics requirements as it can play much more strenous games fine.

I was just wondering if anybody has any suggestions?

Did you install according to instructions in "Installing Civ 4 on Windows 7/Vista (32-/64-bit)"?

Yes, I tried to follow those instructions although I skipped the second Warlords in step 9 as I didn't have Warlords installed, so the patch wouldn't run.

Problem solved, sort of. I downloaded the 'UIBlood' mod and just replaced the files in my BTS folder with those in the mod. I now have menu interface, albeit red. Which is fine by me.
