Problems with senarioes

I Have purchased Civlization 2 special edition and I am having some problems.

Whenever I select senarioes with special unit graphics, Like those in the WW1 and USA 2080, the games starts out fine,the icons and abilities are intact ( WW1 battleships look ancient, hover tanks and MLRS) and I can play it.

However when I save it and load it up again the units reset to their previous icons.

This is irritating; is there a patch or something that can help me?!

Make sure to save the game inside the scenario directory, not sure this is the fix but give it a try.
