Orange Cycloptic Blob
We have an adsl connection to the internet called Broadband 500, where 500 means 500kbits/second download. Today I discovered there is a connection that is called Broadband 2000, with 4 times faster download.
The later one costs about 25% more per month, the upgrade would be free, but the problem is that after having downloaded (maybe uploaded too, but that shouldn't be much) 10GB of data in a month, they charge $2,50 for each extra GB. If we don't download more than 10GB, this could be a very good deal, but if it's up to 20GB it would become very expensive.
So, it'd be nice if I could check how much data passes through my modem to see if we even should consider upgrading. Anybody know of a program that checks this? We have three computers connected through a router to the modem, where two of the computers are used for internet a lot. I've checked if the router or the OS counts bytes, but they don't seem to. How much data do you think is downloaded when surfing? Does it get over 1GB a month if we surf for totally 4 hrs/day?
