Is there a similar simple rule for xp lvls with the charismatic trait?

and what happens when you gain a level up, but there are no more promotions to add to the unit? anyone ever achieved that?

You get more XP for low odd battles. And attacking gives more XP than defending.
A win at 50% (attacking) was 4 XP if I remember correctly and at 98% is the point where you only get 1 XP.
edit: units that withdraw from a fight get 1 XP.

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but don't anyone think it is a bit superfluous to have archery and melee promotions attached to helicopters, modern armor and mech infantry? I think when you upgrade to those units you should have a choice to exchange those promotions to others for a small amount of money. I heard once in a history lesson that when the Italians fought in Ehtiopia in WW2 they were beaten by spears and stones. That story might be exaggerated, but with even more modern units, they would never train fighting against axes and arrows, would they?

As they are often around for thousands of years,
maybe these units have developed some kind of tradition
in teaching their cadets the basics of fighting against meelee units/archers,
even though it is useless in the modern battlefield.
(just like teaching officers the basics of fencing, riding and etiquette isn´t necessary on the modern battlefield, but AFAIK is taught nevertheless in many military academies
