baghdad had 12 followers of sunni islam and 0 of my religion. i used an apostle with the proselytizer promotion (removes 75% pressure of other religions), and the result was 8 followers of sunni and 3 of mine. even if the latter is correct, surely the former should be 3.

this is with the fall patch and the historical religions mod.

Was your Apostle at full health?

I'm not sure this is necessarily a bug, I'm not 100% sure how the game calculates these things but it's something like this. Say the city originally had 3000 'units' of sunni pressure. Your apostle removes 75% of that pressure, and adds 250 units of yours. Baghdad now has 750 units of sunni pressure and 250 of yours. That's a 3:1 ratio, which is close to the 8:3 ratio of followers you're seeing.

hm... so even though there are 2000 fewer units of religious pressure now, the game doesn't count that as "no religion" but rather distributes the 1000 remaining units among the population of the city? that might be right as later on baghdad did convert to my religion after merely one religious combat victory, which with -250 sunni and +250 my religion would have resulted in a 50/50 balance.

i have suspected that something like this occurs, as sometimes one spread will convert several citizens, while other times it won't even convert one. but if one "follower" can have variable weight, it would be handy to know that, as otherwise it's difficult to understand the math behind what your religious unit is actually doing.
