In case you haven't seen, our world image can be found here.

This is not a thread about where to move or settle!

Assume we settle close by, what should our first couple build(s) be? Should we work the citizens on the bonus grassland for the shields, or the wines for the commerce and food (once irrigated)?

This discussion will last for 1/2 day, and then be polled for 1/2 day (what? you ask. We only have 1 day until the first turnchat!). So be quick, summarize it, and I'll put up a poll in ~12 hours.

Build a Warrior first, for interior exploration. This has the best chance to find our 2nd city site.

Build a Curraugh next, for exterior exploration and hope to meet some neighbors.

After that - see what we've got!

For labor allocation - I'd max production.

Are we going 10 or 20 turns on the first chat?

The best city sites for us would be coastal to take advantage of our Sea Faring trait. Build a curragh then a warrior.

As for labor allocation. Work the bg for 4 turns (8 shields and 8 food) and then the Wine for 4 more until we grow (20 food, 13 or 14 sheilds). Then work Wine and BG for 2 turns. Then Wine and Forest 1 turn. Then both wines until we grow again. This is 14 turns and should get us to size 2 with both a warrior and curragh built (in either order).

I was trying to think of something to add, but I think ravensfire summed it up pretty well. However, I think population should be given more consideration. We'd like to get our first settler out as soon as we find a good site (which shouldn't be hard once our warrior starts scouting).

So far the comments I've seen in this and other threads leads me to the build queue of warrior -> curragh -> warrior/curragh (I'll leave that to the DP's discretion - if lots of land, warrior, lots of sea, curragh).

The laborer allocation will be: bonus grassland for 4 turns (8 / 20 food), and wines for 4 turns, once irrigated (remaining 12 / 20 food) for growth, saving us 2 turn in growth, and gaining 4 shields. At size 2, we can work a forest and irrigated wines for 4 spt, 2 fpt for growth in 10, which will get our warrior done in 11 turns, with 2 shields loss. But, we can switch to the BG our second turn @ size 2 to get an additional food with the warrior still done in 11 turns. From there, we will continue with our BG / irrigated wines formation until we are at size 3 (6 turns from the warrior completion).

This is also dependent on Chieftess' worker instructions, especially for the worker allocations, so these are subject to change, but this is tenatively what I'm looking at. Any comments, or is this satisfactory? I've decided not to poll, as it is way too short, and can't cover every opinion.

Don't worry DaveShack, for the turnchat I'll make a easy to follow table!

I would recommend building a warrior before a curragh. Since (a) warriors move slower and (b) there's more interior than coast to explore, it would be better to give the warrior a head start over the curragh.

Warrior->Curragh->Warrior.

Reason? So we can atleast scout out some city sites. (move the warrior in a circular pattern, too).

In the meanwhile, I'll set up instructions for mining/roading the 2 bonus grassland tiles, and irragating the wines (little known fact - they ARE bonus food sources).

Please do it irrigate wines first, and then mine the BGs, as per MOTH's plan in your thread. Suggestions for worker movements will take place in that thread, then, I understand?

Well, we need to poll city location first, before you can work the Red Tile.
I would save the Red tile till we have polled city location.

Do not forget, we lose 1 food during despotism for foods over 2.

True, but as of now, it's +3 food (subtract one). Once it's irragated, it'll be +4 food (subtract one).
