Proving that the World is Round

I was looking through the Global Achievements list on Steam and noticed that no one has been able to accomplish "Magellan" (that's the achievement where you prove that the world is round.

I don't think a game has gone by where I haven't circumnavigated the world. Is the game just not recognizing this when it happens? Is this a bug?

That's a Civ4 element indeed that didn't make its way into Civ5 (yet).
So it's not a bug, it's uhm, not-a-feature.

See this thread for more information. Briefly, you have to modify an XML file to enable this achievement. At least one person did so. That it's showing as 0% on Steam may be due to rounding.

When I look into the achivement list with 23 achivements still at 0%, there should be more achivements that are not working.

Like: "Tomb Raider"
Pillage gold from an Egyptian city with a burial tomb in it. 0%
That doesn't sound too hard.

Or "Hundred Years War" 0%
I think I have read somewere that that is supposed to mean 100 consecutive turns of war and I'm pretty shure the war in my first game against Washington lasted longer as I never stopped this war until I won by diplomacy. And I didn't got this.

That doesn't sound too hard.

I've tried for Tomb Raider numerous times. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to tell whether the cities had burial tombs or not. But seeing as the tomb is a great building, there's either a) a bug with the achievement or b) a bug with the AI's building selection algorithm.

Someone in a different thread a while back said AI don't build very many buildings at all, so maybe that's why Tomb Raider is so difficult.

I played a game set up as a duel with me and 1 AI ( he was egypt of course )

I set it to start in the modern era, and every city has a free temple ( burial tomb ) on that era start.

Still no achievement.
