Every source I've read seems to have a different take on this issue. Amazon, Wiki and CNET have all given me contradictory answers. Given the number of different PS3 models available and the different ways they handle backward compatability its easy to be confused. Some use emulations, some use a PS2 chip and some appear to not support backwards compatability at all.
Im interested in getting a PS3 sometime this fall, but I have a huge library of PS2 games that I will want to play on any new PS3. My PS2 is older and clunkier, god knows how much longer it'll last, plus it would be nice to play the PS2 games with upscaled video. So... backward compatability is deal breaker for me.
Can anyone tell me which model will support full backwards compatability with both PS1 (Yeah I still have a couple) and PS2 games.
