PTW Patch v1.04 Released

That's not the question. The question is, will the parent companies ever learn? They rush the production of an expansion that has got many players fuming over the MP issues, the patch crashes, and others. One review said that they needed a patch to patch the patch.

I think they will after a bit of time ppl will get  and stop buying there games so they will have to finsh there job and make the game great if they are still going to make half done jobs.

in turnless mode the game lags so much i couldn't build a city. For anyone who is looking at this and doesnt have ptw but is thinking of it DO BUY IT. the game is good in singal but is so @$#% bad in mulit. So until fraixs puts out another patch in like a 2 months look for other games to buy this year dont spend good gameing money on a game that a big patch could do the same.

It was a year ago Civ 3 came out - a rushed beta product needing numerous patches and then an expansion at extra cost. I just came back from looking at an entire FORUM devoted to PTW problems, and problems with its PATCH! Yikes. More patches to follow, no doubt. Maybe eventually PTW 2? :p

I haven't even been on this site in over two months, yet it seems nothing changes: problems, and bugs, and crashes, and all manner of irritation and added work due to Firaxis' policy of releasing under-developed, poorly tested products.

No, there are likely enough people who are so undemanding that they will accept whatever Firaxis gives them, enough so for them to turn a profit. Which is too bad for the rest of us. :(

Of course, on the otherhand, they will never be able to market a Civ 4 as successfully. People aren't that gullible.

Zouave: good to see you back - and good to see that you haven't gone 'soft' ;) on Firaxis!

Good point made Zouave, and I have the chance to see you on these boards...

If they do what they have promised, and maybe released some beta out to the public, then Civ 4 could be marketed as successfully if not more than the previous Civilization games.

That's why I believe that Firaxis will fix the the problems in the near future. And I believe that Firaxis takes pride in their work.

I know that a lot of fans do not like the CIVIII concept (like you), but others do like it a lot (like me). If you put that aside, we must admit their great work on patching CIVIII. :goodjob:

lol ... i could almost guarrentee that civ4 will be just as popular as civ3 .... im sure everyone "knew" that ptw would be buggy? is no supprise to me at least .... i guess the real point is ... is it good? or have the great potential? ... im sure in about 6 months the game will just be about perfect/bug free (at least as perfect as the developers envisioned it)

damn i miss the internet/computers!!!!!!!!
