Purple screen ingame

Hi

I have been searching all over here and on google to try find a solution to this problem I have with Civ 4 BTS

Im running a core i5 460m with a radeon 550v or v550 which my research on the internet says is a radeon 4650. with windows 7 x64

I can get into the game fine and start a new one etc, but when It comes to playing all terrain is purplely pink. the units are normal and if I zoom out to see the whole map like normal.

I have tried different mods and its still the same. tried all different graphics settings, windowed, fullscreen, different resolutions.

I tried a friend's version of civ 5 and that works all good, but I prefer civ 4.

I have the latest GFX drivers, got updated DX, and Civ BTS is at 3.19 or whatever the latest version of it is.

Yes I did read through that and install all the dx and drivers and patches etc

So Civ 4 is installed in C:\Games\Civ4 ?

Yes it is. I tend to install everything to the games dir rather then have them scattered all over in program files

What happens when you open it up in worldbuilder ?

It stays the same as shown in the screen shots, except when I zoom out I can see the whole world due to there being no LoS
