I hace come to notice that in some games my temple, monestary and other religious buildings each grant me an extra hammer, but i have yet to discover why this happens,,, Could somebody please provide me with an answear?

Religious buildings that belong to the AP religion get that bonus.

In line with this, does the hammer bonus continue after monasteries become obsolete?

NO, the hammer bonus is obsolete with Scientific Methods. As is the 10% research and I am pretty certain the culture output. The ability to create missionaries with OR still stands though.

The Culture output and the ability to make Missionaries in a Monastery without OR will stay. ( More specific: the basic 2:culture: a monastery will give you will stay. The additional :culture: you might get from the Sistina will go away when obsoleting. Odd, isn't it  )

Thanks for the clarification.

Do the hammers from Temples and other religious buildings stay? (Cathedrals?)

Temples and Cathedrals never go obsolete so the hammers stay. The bonus is negated with Mass Media. Also I think you lose the hammer benefit if your switch to Free religion, or adopt a different state religion but not 100% on this.

Those stay until the AP is obsolete with Mass Media.

Note tho: It obsoletes, when the Civ, who has the AP, has Mass Media.

So if you are not the AP owner, you can tech MM, and still receive the :hammers: from your Temples, Catherdrals (and the Shrine if you have it) untill the owner of the palace gets the tech.

Edit: @MadScientist: I think the bonus will stay in free religion / other staate religion. But not 100% sure as well :D
