Question about mods and achievements

Hello there folks,
is it true that I can't use any mods in order to get achievements? Not even the clock mod? How about graphics mods?

Anything that is loaded up through the Mod menu will prevent you from earning achievements.

So yes, the clock mod will prevent you from unlocking any achievements.

Is there a way to manually change files? Like you did in Civ 4?

You can edit the actual game files if you really want (early on people would edit the Global Defines to get the Magellan achievement to trigger), but if you do so you may want to put Steam in Offline Mode to prevent any auto-updating.
