Whenever two people are one turn away from completing a wonder, how is it determined who the person who completes it will be?

Remember that Civ is a turn-based game. So in regular play or hotseat, it will be player 1 over player 2(and so on)

In a online multiplayer, where everyone play at the same time, it will still be player 1 over player 2, tough it will be harder to remember who it was(save for the host, who is always 1st)

And just to add to it, the AI beat the player one the same turn.

yeah it is really annoying i had a game where temple of artemis and hanging garden were stolen from me on the last turn( forced me to alt f4 my game very hard). and i started with 1marble and 3 stone

Frozenmoses, when that happen, you build 20 pikemans and you go on a rampage!

What happens to all the work that the other one put into the wonder. Does it get converted to gold or is it lost?

If you are on the last turn to build a wonder and so is the AI, the AI will beat you. That's because when you end the turn, your wonder isn't built until the next turn. The AI then builds the wonder because their turn is after you. While it may look like you are tied (both have one turn left) you are actually one turn behind them in production. They were in the same position you are in right now when you hit end turn on their previous turn.

You get gold when you wonderfail, but it doesn't always tell you this and it never tells you how much you got for it the way it did this in CIV for some stupid reason.

I honestly dont get how that works. "Well guys, we were really banking on the sistine chapel being built, but those guys got one. Guess we'll part ours out for cash".

Like is there a guy down the road who recycles wonder parts or something?

I don't like it either, but I would like even less if I didn't get at least something...like the petty gold. :)

gold can pay for alot of troops to invade that city with the shiny new wonder in it :D

In my humble opinion, it represent you building A Sistine Chapel while they built THE Sistine Chapel.

Their chapels is just better, and thus they get all the tourists.
