:crazyeye: :crazyeye: Does it matter what kind of ISP I have in order to set up a wireless network? As I have freaking AOL but don't know if dial up would work for a wireless network(much less what hardware I need :crazyeye: ) Is wireless supposed to be this painful BTW? :crazyeye:

no, your provider doesn't really matter, since you set the wireless up internally anyway, you will still need your wired modem/router/whatever to access AOL, what you do internaly doesn't really matter to the internet-gateway. setting up wireless isn't that hard, but setting it up properly (securely) takes some time and effort.

KaeptnOvi,

Someone asked on my forums if dual-attenna would get a signal through concrete flooring that currently blocks the signal. Don't suppose you know?

I'm still using good old trusty CAT5 cables

AOL dialup is a bit of a different beast, since it doesn't do straight TCP/IP routing so far as I know, and you need the AOL client running. AOL DSL may or may not have the same problems.

:goodjob: Now my father might have to get rid of old slow AOL since he showed intrest in getting the wireless stuff I put on my list.

AFAIK dual antennas don't improve the signal strength, they just allow more users at the same time, but i'm not sure there. the only thing that would improve strength is a stronger single antenna, IMHO. i would stay with CAT5, they may be low-tech but the things sure are reliable...

Oops, the keyword was bi-directional, not dual. Does that matter?
