Question about wonders

An Olympics wonder would be cool. Maybe it would create happiness the same way like Broadway or Rock´n Roll, by generating "Sport Events" like the Broadway generates "Hit Musicals". And you could make a wonder movie about it easily. Internet is full of clips that you can choose.

The Olympics could actually be a national wonder since all sorts of cities in all sorts of countries have hosted the Olympics at one point or another.

you know i just have a crazy idea about the Olympic Games.

It would combine the code of World Congresses, Manhattan Project and Notre Dame and it would be ....

.... The Wandering World Wonder (WWW)

to be more specific, as soon as somebody builds the first Olympic Games it becomes available to all Civs. From this turn onwards it will stay only one turn in one city. It will give a happiness bonus of +1 (or +2) throughout all the Empire and a small commercial bonus for the city (+5 or +10) .. but only for one turn.
Afterwards it will pop up in another city always after 4 turns. The effect stays the same, but again the Games will be there only for one turn.
The selection of the hosting city will be as randomly as the selection of the host of the world congress is.

That is the first stage of development, in the second stage you also will have one turn of forced peace between all the competing nations, you can choose to attain the Games or not, there will be a small benefit for the nation with the best sportsmen - they get a great person , called Great Sportsman .. etc.

Ugh, I hate to disagree with Rod, since I think he's right about a lot of things, but the "Wandering Wonder" just sounds silly to me. What's the incentive for me to build a wonder that will only be around for one turn? And then, a wonder that would give my rivals a bonus?! Ugh...

Forced peace every four turns? That would make a prolonged war impossible... I don't know about this one... It just seems a little far-fetched to me.

Rod, I had a same kind of idea few days ago. The WWW idea would be better, if the last host could decide the next host country. With AI it the next host could depend on their relations with other countries, so it wouldn´t be completely random. And no forced peace or Great Sportsman, a GP few times in a late game for free, could cause chaos. And maybe any countries in war couldn´t participate Olympics, and if something like 4-5 countries are at war, the Olympics wouldn´t trigger. So Rhye, I know you are online when I post this, so what do you think?

While I like the idea as a whole, it sounds like it'll get a bit tedious after a while.

Actually another wonder I was thinking of was World's Tallest Building or something like that to represent just economic and industrial power. Since ancient times and esp. modern times, people have been trying to build the world's blankiest blank as a testament to their power. It would be nice to somehow incorporate that into the game.

I like the idea of a traveling WW, but named Olympic Games, on a location voted by all CIVs every 4 turns. But no forced peace should by added.
The first olympics might be triggered by Mass Media. The civ to first discouver Mass Media gets the firts edition in its capital.

I would change the stationary sports WW to the Tour de France, that is the biggest annual sportsevent in the world. (Even in China people watch it). It gives a Hit Sports show.

For a national sportswonder we could have a national football league, giving colloseum (stadium) + 1
