Question on MGL's

This came up in another forum and I thought I'd ask.

When you get an MGL, is it possible to build an army in any town/city or must it be done in your capital? I'd swear I've done it many times in other towns, but wasn't sure enough to post that I had.

Thanks for any clarification. You'd think I'd be sure of the answer after as long as I've been playing, but I didn't do much warmongering until recently.

It can be done in any city, I have done it in cities that I took from the AI.

Any will do, does not need a barracks either.

It doesn't need a barracks but does a barracks make any difference?

NOt that I can tell. There is such a thing as a vet army as oppossed to a regular army. I forget how that comes about. I think it is those that were created by the MA. I could not remember which one of my armies were from leader or the MA.

Veteran armies do have better retreat odds than regular. But armies don't usually need to retreat, and when they do the enemy is often redlined too - which makes retreat impossible.

Can the MGL rush the palace in C3C?

You can rush the palace with an MGL. There are certain times the map and your starting position practically demand a palace jump.
