I've been playing Civ for quite a while, and since I'm getting conquests on christmas, I've decided to brush up on Civ3, but reading the strategies in the 'war academy' seem to mention something called 'gpt' or somesuch. I looked in the acronyms section and it wasn't there, so what is it?

You can find a list of all the commonly used acronyms in post 12 of the FAQ. You can also ask individual questions like this in the stickied Quick Answers thread at the top of the General Discussions page.
One helpful hint about the Quick Answers thread: No one is expected to read the whole thing looking for already posted answers (it's too long). Just post any questions you have and they'll get answered, usually pretty fast too.
