First off before I start I know that I could look up most of this information on my own, but at this moment I am lazy and it would be easier if some knowledgeable person could supply me with the information. ;)

So I've had Civ3 for a few years and although I havent been a huge player I have played it a good bit off and on and overall enjoyed it. I've been reading up on Civ4 and from what I've seen I think I'd like to pick it up and give it a spin. Here are a few questions I'd like answered.

1- what is the average retail at the store now for just the original with no expansion?

2- Is there a combined game out yet that has the original with 1 or both of its expansions in the same set? If so how much is its average retail?

3- The game has been out for awhile now and I'm just wanting opinions on if it would be better for me to wait maybe a few more months if the price is possibly about to lower again or if a combined package is soon coming out, or if I might as well just go out and buy it now.

Thanks.

1 - A quick search I found around $38.00, however you could definately find a cheaper version online at ebay.com

2- You could get Civ IV: Gold which is Civ IV + the Warlords expansion for around $48.00. Again, cheaper if bought online. I would guess in a few months you will see a new version which includes Civ IV and both expansions.

3 - I would buy now, but I'm also a Civ junkie. If you can't purchase online just scout out your local retailers and see what's the cheapest.

Unless you just can't live without the Warlord scenarios and you want the game now, I'd just the basic game plus the BTS expansion. BTS comes with everything in Warlords except the scenarios.

However, it might be worth the wait to pick it up as one package for cheaper... but, I'd still just rather have it now.

I purchased a direct2drive copy of Civ IV and Warlords, but I am waiting for the a final version of the game to come out and I plan on purchasing whatever boxed bundle Firaxis will hopefully release once they have a nice, final version for sale.

civ4 without BTS expo is worthless. To put it in 4 words: there are no spies

Seriously. If you havent played the other games of the franchise it will rock! if you have, it will suck :(

IMO Civ 4 is just a massive step sideways. Even a step back in some regards. With only a couple places that are a step forward.

However, with BTS - it is a pretty good step forward. I wouldn't call it a massive step though. Civ 3 was a probably the biggest step forward IMO. Bringing in resource dependancy, culture, great people, bombardment, animated graphics, and some other minor things.

Civ 4 has introduced promotions for units, religion, and a new maintenance (corruption) system.

...and FireStorm5, I hope you have a 64 bit engine, if you like empires in Civ 4 like you allready have them in Civ 3: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=6023466&postcount=29

And the next posts in that thread are interesting too. If you don´t have such an engine, the price could be a little bit higher if you want to play with empires and not only with small regional districts.

Thanks for the info and opinions. Even though I haven't replied till now I have been reading them.

After reading up some more on the expansions I decided to just buy Civ4 alone and try it out. Although I have only played one sample game so far I think that I will enjoy it enough to go out and buy BtS in a week or so. From what I've read and heard I will get by fine without Warlords.

Civinator- My computer is 32 bit, however even with Civ3 I never was a huge fan of huge maps. Mostly played on standard and large, so maybe that wont be too much of an issue for me.
