I might host one but...

What do I need to do to my firewall settings?

How much power does it take for my computer to leave it on 24/7?

What about electricity? How much do you think my parents would have to pay?!?!?

Need anything special??

I don't know about your firewall; but I'm sure you need to configure it.

Power consumption is quite minimal, especially if you turn off the monitor. Motors and heaters are the power hogs, not electronics.

I too am looking to set up a Pitboss game using vanilla Civ IV (no expansions). I have downloaded the Pitboss application http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/downloads.htm

I have opened up the Pitboss.exe and went through the steps in setting up the game except the SMTP email I left blank since I dont know how to configure that. Then I launched the game and a new window popped up.

Now I cannot figure out how I can get into the game to choose my civ and start playing! Nor do I know how to get others to join the game....uh oh I just did another online google query asking "what is my IP" and now the number is different from yesterday...To fix this I heard I need a dynamic dns as well as open "ports" to my router. I use a qwest dsl modem box I guess that is my router. But How do I "open ports" and which ones?

Help!

Go here for your dynamic IP problem.

You'll need to read the manual or something to figure out how to open ports on your router, as it's different for each one and I haven't used a qwest myself.
