Questions about The BUG Mod

I've sent a report to the moderators to move everything below this post:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=8907620&postcount=40

Me thinks Alerum used to report these posts so that the forum mods knew to remove them and keep the main download thread clean. Since Alerum is gone, you guys that are still around (EF/Ruff Hi) will need to do it.

Sorry for contributing to the problem, but hopefully the mods will move all these posts off the thread anyway. If they don't they just aren't listening to me because I'm not a BUG dev and one of you guys who are will need to do it. To keep LoR's main download thread I just hit the report button on the offending post and just put that the post is in the wrong thread in the report window. The mods seem to have no issue with doing this, and are usually pretty quick to respond. No other way to keep a main download thread for a popular mod clean either.

BTW, thanks for the Italian translations of the Show Hidden Attitude Mod. They'll go into the next BULL release. :)

It's nothing, and we'd give thanks to your staff every day for the funny you give us with your work. I'm just sorry I've seen that post too late.

BTW installing bug 4.3 and bull 1.1 works perfect :)

Great job to everyone affiliated to the BUG project. I've also just upgraded to BULL 1.1+BUG 4.3 and have a question about SHAM. It says it might show spoiler information in the BUG screen and by looking at a few saves I noticed a few things that I thought I shouldn't be able to see.
[-2 A first impression is a lasting one.] for example.
Spoiler :

Am I wrong on the issue, as I don't know any civs that start with a natural -2 against the human?

Is there some description somewhere of what all the lines of information are telling me in the attached screen? I also was using the SHIFT key to bring up even more information but, unfortunately, trying to take a screen shot of that resulted in an image without the hover information but including a box to name the saved file.

Now that I'm delving into my first 'real' game with these mods I will probably have a number of questions re. the data I'm seeing. Most of them will probably be easy so I will just throw them out as they come up. :)

The first one is: in the Domestic Advisor City Overview screen what is the column with the red bread symbol?

What are all the columns B (food) n, (food) n, B (hammer) n, etc., telling me in the Domestic Advisor City Info screen?

Domestic Advisor City Overview: what does the unhappy face column indicate?

Is it possible to add hover info for all of these various columns?

Domestic Advisor Military Overview: what are the columns headed by tank, anchor, aircraft, spy, and spy%?

With the spoiler information off this modifier will include the leader's base attitude toward everyone plus a modifier for your difficulty level.

Is there some description somewhere of what all the lines of information are telling me in the attached screen [Advanced Combat Odds]?

PieceOfMind, the mod's author, has some information in the Advanced Combat Odds thread and can answer specific questions.

For the Domestic Advisor, I'd like to add hover text, but a) that will take a lot of work and b) it will show up when hovering over the rows and not the headings (Civ4). :(

In the Domestic Advisor City Overview screen what is the column with the red bread symbol?

I think that's the # of turns until growth. I'm thinking showing the :food: icon with a citizen icon might be better.

What are all the columns B (food) n, (food) n, B (hammer) n, etc., telling me in the Domestic Advisor City Info screen?

The "B" prefix typically means "base" before multipliers. The "n" suffix means "national" for the ranking columns; "g" means "global".

Domestic Advisor City Overview: what does the unhappy face column indicate?

My City Overview page doesn't have that column; maybe I removed it. Or maybe you mean the red coin icon? If so, that means maintenance (truncated).

Domestic Advisor Military Overview: what are the columns headed by tank, anchor, aircraft, spy, and spy%?

First three are number of XP a unit of that domain type will receive. The :espionage: is the number of espionage points that city produces and the :espionage:% is the espionage rate of the city.

Thanks for all of the replies. And I think you are correct that one of the headings I was confused on was a red coin and not an unhappy face. I still have a couple of questions based on your answers, though.

1) Domestic Advisor City Info

I have a city with the following data:

B
food.gif
n 1
food.gif
n 1
B
hammer.gif
n 1
hammer.gif
n 1
B
commerce.gif
n 1
commerce.gif
n 1
gold.gif
n 1
science.gif
n 1
culture.gif
n 1
B
food.gif
g 1
B
food.gif
g 1
B
hammer.gif
g 10
hammer.gif
g 10
B
commerce.gif
g 5
commerce.gif
g 5
gold.gif
g 1
science.gif
g 6
culture.gif
g 6

I still have no idea what these numbers are telling me. I hate to ask so many questions but I feel that there is a lot of useful data here if I can just figure out how to decipher it!

2) The same city has the following information in the Military Overview:

espionage.gif
5
espionage.gif
% 0

How does the 0% relate to the 5?

Is there a way to get rid of the row of icons near the bottom of the main screen (the ones for selecting healthy/unhealthy units, civilian/military units, etc.) if I am not using them?

And, is it my imagination, or has some kind of graphics been turned on to show blood? I don't remember seeing blood in ANY previous Civ game I've ever played.

Thanks.

I have a city with the following data: . . .

The B stands for "base" meaning the value before any % modifiers are applied. For example B:science: is the city's :science: rate before adding the +25% for its Library, if it has one.

The g stands for "global", the n for "national". These columns show the city's rank when compared to all other cities (nationally or globally). 1 means it has the highest value.

The same city has the following information in the Military Overview:

espionage.gif
5
espionage.gif
% 0

How does the 0% relate to the 5?

The city is producing 5:espionage: points per turn and it has no :espionage: modifiers (e.g. +50% for Jail IIRC).

Is there a way to get rid of the row of icons near the bottom of the main screen (the ones for selecting healthy/unhealthy units, civilian/military units, etc.) if I am not using them?

Yes, uncheck the Show Mod/Filter Buttons checkbox on the Plot List tab of the BUG Options screen (ALT + CTRL + O).

And, is it my imagination, or has some kind of graphics been turned on to show blood?

This is part of BAT and can be disabled by reading the instructions in this thread.

Domestic Advisor City Overview:

What is the column between :gp:T and the Cultural Defense value? And what is the red fist after the Cultural Defense value?

BUG installer still isn't available :(

Do you guys really want a zip file that extracts a few folders, including custom assets outside any coherent central mod? Seems a bit confusing to me, especially since there is a working installer out there... It's just impossible to find. And I guarantee there are alot of confused casual users out there that cannot figure out how to use zip file, and are thus being left out...

Thanks EF. It's good now. Also still think that icon for the installer would be best for the BUG options button :mischief:

I just installed the new BUG/BULL a short while ago, but I've noticed that the game now does the annoying habit of when I select a unit to build that it perpetually builds it (I mean the screen when it says select which thing to build next after completing the previous one). How do I remove the game from doing this to me?

The rest of the BUG has worked great and I like the new espionage screen in particular and the listing of AI's worst enemy while hovering on the scoreboard.

OK I found it. I didn't see that you could scroll down the City Screen tab. Thanks for the help EF.

When I select a unit to build that it perpetually builds it.

Uncheck "Build Military Units Repeatedly" on the City Screen (or General?) tab of the BUG Options screen.
