Questions about The BUG Mod

Since you installed BUG single-player, you don't "load" the mod like you used to do with BAT. It is always running as long as you don't load some other mod. Are you using your normal BTS shortcut to play or the BUG 4.4 shortcut? If the latter, right-click it and select Properties. Make sure the Location doesn't have "/mod=BUG Mod 4.4" at the end. If it does, remove it.

You should be able to play using BUG by launching BTS with the normal BTS shortcut. By "I changed the .ini file" you added the autoload setting in your CivilizationIV.ini file?

Code:
Mod = BUG Mod 4.4

If so, change it back to

Code:
Mod = 0

Finally, what happens when you start a new game? Do you see BUG's features?

It works. Many thanks! I changed it to Mod = 0.

After a long time away from CIV, I wanted to play again so I installed CIV, BTS, patch 3.19, and of course the BUG mod. Problem is, BTS plays fine when I install upto patch 3.19, but then i get the "failed initializing python" when I install BUG. Any ideas on what I can do to play with BUG?

OK. I tried uninstalling BUG and now BTS patched to 3.19 works fine. Something with installing BUG in the customassets folder seems to be messing with the Python load. :(

Hmm. I just tried installing the entire suite including BUG on another machine and that one's fine! Go figure. If anyone knows of a solution, let me know. Otherwise, I guess I'll just deal with it.

@BarrageQueen - I might have a solution, but I need more information to know what the problem is. Please follow the instructions on the Troubleshooting page and provide the information it seeks here.

It disables itself the first time you open the options screen, but if you really want to remove it entirely you can set its default value to False. I think it's in BUG Core.xml. Search for OptionsShortcutReminder or some combination of that.

Is there a way to display the number of turns till culture expansion on the 'mouse over city' popup? It's always bothered me that food and hammers show the number of turns remaining but culture doesn't.

Cheers for the great mod also.

This and a whole lot more is available with BULL--the BUG DLL. It is a separate mod that you can install with BUG and use with succession and forum games just like BUG. See my sig for the download link.

I looked and its already on False, but it is still has a checkmark by it, everytime i start a game, or an autosave restart:confused:

Are you starting from a new install? The default values in the Config XML files only apply when you first launch the game. At that time BUG writes all the default values into the INI files. From then on only the INI files control the settings.

BUG not detecting BULL
I just installed BUG and BULL, and BUG isn't detecting BULL at all. It's like it's not there.

using Vista 64, BTS 3.19, I used the BUGMod installer 4.4 and BULL 1.2 zip

I did a singleplayer install, and I don't believe there's anything nonstandard in my install. thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Edit: nevermind, apparently launching the game through Steam was my problem. If there's a way to run it via steam and still use BULL, that'd be cool, but if not, I'll just have to stick with running it manually.

Edit part 2: Disregard this, I figured it out moments after posting. Steam keeps part of civ4 in the steam folder, and part of it in the firaxis folder. I had to replace the DLL in the steam folder.

Hi, I'd like to know if there is a 40 civs (or more) dll of BULL. I think I heard somewhere that there was. Sorry to trouble you.

I will likely release one with the next version of BULL since a lot of people want one. It's possible that Fuyu already does this with his Better BUG AI merge, but I do not know.

If you don't mind Better AI then there'S a 50 civ DLL in the Better BUG AI package, which you just need to rename to use it.

Please do because the 40civs mod I'm using is very unstable (many bad allocation errors - or perhaps it's my computer?) and I can't get to use bug with it.

I'll give it a try. Never played Better AI. Thanks.

It might be your computer. A 40 Civ DLL will tax your hardware in the late game, especially on a large-ish map.
