Questions & Answers

On the subject of historical accuracy, I have a question. Why is it we are forced to sit as the clock goes backwards, when (if a team to do the job is assembled), we could possibly make some maps and/or scripts of a historically accurate world at each civilization's entry time, so that there is not a half-hour wait to play as America.

As I said to myself when waiting to play as America:
I don't care if it's my home country, I'm not waiting around half an hour for it!

Actually, should be easy. All I really need to do is take the time to do all that waiting around to play as America, then take the time to make the world the way it should be. I will of course need a map of where various cities are supposed to be... for example: Toronto, Shanghai, and some others.

a part of the RFC concept is not the total historical correctness, but a "what if" world not to far away from the real history.
Making a historical map in the starting year of every civ, would give the same start every time you play the civ. Now, there are differences possible, so every game is different in a much lager way than possible with fixed starting situations. Else, RFC would be more a scenario with some MOD properties, while now it is more like a MOD with scenario properties.

I've allways been in favour of an extra start, a late game start, especially with BtS as it has a big focus on late game. 1815 would be my favourite date to start with.

Rhye,

I've just noticed the development of the Giant Earth Map (GEM), and I'm wondering if an adaption for that map is a possibility. It'd seem to be just a matter of increasing sizes of UHV areas and numbers of cities according to scale (though I'm no modder).

How about incirporating confederations into the mod? Something in between vassal states (with colonies for each of the composing members), but with a common budget for research (dictated by the AI or Human), and automatic unit and building development (the units must be available to the "leader") as well as slider management (with certain taxes for espionage and treasury). You would obviously have to have control over wonder building, and you could "suggest" to a city what to build (causing temporary internal diplomacy minuses and unhapiness), but this would be offset by drastically reduced maintenace costs, especially for far away cities. this would work well for Greece, US, and maybe the English post-colonization. I am probably crazy but it's been bugging me,a nd since I amnot a modder...

I remember that jdog5000 over at the revolution mod was musing on confederations, but it never went anywhere. Still, some aspects wouldn't be too hard to implement - a military alliance, research co-operation + sharing, open borders and so on - something similar to the EU or that new South American one (USAN). Something akin to permanent alliances?

Way too much work.

not just that. All city names map; settlers map; civs strenght balancement; stability re-balancement.

Collateral effects? Exponentially increased loading times

Hi ,

just an idea , why not let sometimes units like workers go to America , .... ?

Have a nice day

Rhye, check out this mod

(Total war mod)

It's a very big MOD with a lot of junk (extra civs, leaders,techs,...), but some nice things too.
-It has a governement loyaty (I think it is something like stability)
-ciminallity (don't know what this is excactly)
-dynamic civ names

and stuff that would be nice to add to RFC:

-slavery: like the aztec UP: after a battle you have a chance of getting a slave unit that can be sold, used to give hammer to a building in construction, +2 hammers as specialist, give extra populance (+ some food) or for culture.

-an easy way to remove religion without inquisitor (but with consequence)

maybe some other stuff, I don't know yet.

Hi ,

hmmmm loads need to be done before that would be integrated (!!)

to much difference compared to RFC

Have a nice gaming day :)
