questions for turn 240

Guess I'll get this started now:

There are a couple of things that could happen next turn:

1) SABER doesn't land (may or may not try to take a city)
2) SABER lands in the open
3) SABER takes a city

Actually, if they take a city, they will almost certainly land on the other side of the island - I don't think they have the forces to take 2 cities with marines.

Anyway, if they take a coastal city and pour MA in our core, we take those out.

The question is, what happens if they land 2 groups in the clear?

My thoughts are that we concentrate on the southern group first, since it's going to be the largest and the one right in our core.


There is another possibility, of course, which is that they turn towards SCI, but if they do that, that's probably good for us.

If they take a city, they will take so many of our cities that we can only try to hurt them big time... :rolleyes:

At least they got only one combat settler and it looked like they have no transports in reserve to reinforce this turn...
Their carriers will hopefully carry a lot of fighters so bombers will be rather rare... :shifty:

Just wait and see if we get a nice lesson in modern warfare...

Off your west coast:

4/4 cruiser vs. 4/4 battleship -> 2/4 cruiser

3 damaged destroyers bombard:

4/4 cruiser to 2/4
2/4 battleship to 1/4
Miss 2/4 cruiser

4/4 destroyer vs. 2/4 cruiser (+ battleship defensive bombard) -> 2/4 destroyer
4/5 destroyer vs. 1/4 battleship -> 2/5 destroyer

Between your mainland and your 11-tiler:

4/4 destroyer vs. 4/4 destroyer -> 3/4 Saber destroyer
4/4 destroyer vs. 4/4 transport -> 3/4 destroyer

So now we have next to no navy at all. :ack:

But no towns were attacked. Now let's hope for a fast play by FREE and BABE... :twitch:
 
So, it looks like we have to build some ships then, cause next batch of troops will surely come if they gain a foothold.
 
We can't possibly build enough ships to match them on the seas. We might be able to pop a sub here and there to sink a transport (if we get lucky) but other than that I'd avoid building surface ships.

If SABER forces don't land, I want to revisit cruise missile builds - they will be useful against MA (they will reduce the number of MA we lose) and if we can kill naval units, they may hold back on a reinvasion, allowing, creating fewer places they can land.

That makes sense.
At least we should have something which could stop them from reinforcing too easily. Stealth planes would have been nice.....or tactical nukes :nuke:

I kidda expect their ships to be spread quite thin because they have to make sure that FREE doesn't land them on the backside, remember that we are the only team that has an air based EWS, so we don't need to sentry boats. If we had been smart and not gone scouting we could be ruling the seas now :blush:

I would focus on building destroyers as they got 9 moves (with mag) and then use carrier for recon and then whack their sentry boats out one by one.
 
Shield for shield, I am of the impression that destroyers are the best naval choice. Put them in packs.

If we are going to build ships that is...
 
Trouble is we don't have any good coastal production cities. I think it would take quite awhile to build enough ships to make a difference.

What is the status of our EWS? Are our jets in position to scout our entire coast? Even if SABER doesn't land it would be useful if someone opened the save and did the necessary recon and posted screenies (along with a log so we can recreate the exact actions).
 
I believe we have enough to most of the coast, though some will still be covered by destroyers. I moved them around, partly to be able to provide control of the air to different places.

No worries A.T. - I think you're doing a fine job considering the scope of these turns. It's an enormous job. I'm fine with you continuing on. If we change anything - I'd like it to just be that you open the save, run our EWS and take screenshots of the whole situation asap and post them for group discussion before anything else is done or moved.

Would it be possible to do something like that?

I can do that - what I'll do is try to post the list of units I find, as well (taken from the game), so others can see what is there and so I don't make mistakes like that again.
 
This should probably be in the FREE embassy, but I don't want to clutter the discussion going on there right now.

Can I get quick approval to send this letter to FREE... just in case this is what they're waiting for before they play the save?
