I noticed that army units still have a rank like normal units but I've never seen any of my army units get promoted
Q: Can army units get promoted? (regular->veteran->elite)
[/SIZE]

As has been stated you can get a promotion all the way up to elite. One reason you may not have seen that is only one unit did all the fighting.

IOW I have an army with 1 elite knight and 3 horses. The knight does the fighting until it is dead. If it never gets much damage, it will do all the combats and of course cannot be promoted.

Yes, the army units can get promoted (1 at a time though; ie; a Vet - Vet - Reg army might become Vet - Elite - Red, then Elite - Elite - Reg, etc.).

edit: Darn, Turner beat me. I guess I have more of a life than him. :P

Sure ya do. ;)

This is a newbie question for certain. How do you get back to the embassy screen or use a Spy planted in another civ? I can't find anything obviouis on the Interface for it.

Thanks. It does save space but it's not easily noticed.

Thanks guys. Although helpful, my question wasn't exactly answered.

I'm referring to the army unit itself, like watorrey stated, NOT the units inside the army.

So which is it? Can the "army unit" get promoted or not?

watorrey has said "has heard but NOT witnessed". Has anyone witnessed an "army unit" promoted? (again, NOT the units inside the army but the army itself; if you look closely, all the units inside the army has health equivalent to their rank AND the army itself also has a rank, which begins at "regular" level)

"Therefore a victorious army first wins and then seeks battle; a defeated army first battles and then seeks victory" -S.T.

Impossible.

A GML spawned can create an Army and this is called a "regular" Army.

If you have the Military Academy built in a city which also has barracks the Armies created there will be regarded as "veteran" Armies. If the city didn't have barracks the Army created would then be "regular".

There is no difference, other than the name, between both Armies.

Armies NEVER get promoted in fights, only the units inside them which can promote to elite but will NEVER spawn a GML. Query answered ?

Hi everyone,
where can I find a player and/or a codec with which I can see the civ movie files (.bik files)?
I think this question was posted time (years?) ago, but i don't find it..
Thank you in advance!

No boost against bombing raids?

In case you don't know this:

Against enemy bombs you can build the "SAM missile battery" improvement in the city you want to defend
OR
if you play C3C, fortify 1 or more "Flak" units inside the city you want to defend
OR
place in another city or airbase 1 or more Fighters 2 or 3 squares (I don't remember.. see Civilopedia) within to the city you want to defend and assign to them the "Control The skies" mission.

When you discover Rocketry you can upgrade:
Flak to Mobile SAM and
Fighter to Jet Fighter (or F-15 if you play with the americans), with which the "control the skies" range is higher than with a Fighter.

When you discover Stealth you can upgrade
Jet Fighter to Stealth Fighter with which the "control the skies" range is higher than with a Jet Fighter.

The best way to defend your cities from enemy bombing is to use this three possibilities together (obvious, isn't it? ;) )

Enjoy to defeat enemy bombers!

Hope to be useful and sorry for my english!

Two small remarks:
The interception range is half the operational range (=bombing range/reconnaissance range) which is listed in the units statistics.
Stealth Fighters cannot intercept and jet fighters do not upgrade to Stealth Fighters (in unmodded Civ3/PTW/C3C).

10lire, Roland: I know this - thanks anyway! Oh - and don't be sorry for your English. :)
