You can only change it by opening civ3mod.biq with the editor.
There is no text file for it.
:(

Oh well, looks like I'll be playing most of my games without a throne room or score graph then. Bleah.

I haven't seen any. However, there are excellent Civ3/PTW/C3C references in my sig, by Lonewolf. They are PDFs, and one for each version. The first page is a keyboard shortcut reference. Very useful.

Question: Under what circumstances will I recoup a settler (and possibly workers) when I abandon a city?

I am playing C3 v.1.29f

I have just captured an enemy city that is only one space away from one of my own cities. Ultimately, I would prefer to abandon the city and acquire slave labor. Later I would I like to plant a settler at a more beneficial space.

Alas, I need to keep the city so as to prevent the AI from plopping down another settler and having a unrecuperative battlefield (from my perspective).

Sometimes I get a settler when I abandon; other times, I don't. Is there something I need to know?

Thanks again.

The population must be equal to that of what you'd lose for the unit. So 2 for a settler, and 1 for a worker.

You must also not be losing food, or gaining food. I.e., enough food to feed the pop and no more. On second thought, maybe losing food is okay, but I've never tried that.

You actually change on the civ set-up screen, you can change the guys' (or gals') names.
But that's only for the leader you're playing as, isn't it?

Well...I just got the Complete Edition of Civ3 Today and i am liking it alot, although i am having problems with money, im doing the INTRO1 Conquest its my first level yet and after a little bit i am having problems getting money, how do you get money? I didnt read the whole instruction booklet cus it is SO big.

Build lots of settlers to make cities.

Build lots of workers (1 to 2 per city) and make sure that those workers road the tiles your population is working. You can see in your city screen what tiles the pop are.

Get out of Despotism and into Monarchy or Republic ASAP. Despotism isn't ideal for making money.

Have units, but not too many. Keep track of how many you have with your F3-Military Advisor screen. You can have more units than allowed (That just means you pay maintenance for them) but if you're not at war you don't need a lot of units.

Make sure you read The War Academy. Don't have to read it all at once, but don't ignore it either.

And lastly, don't be afraid to ask here what's going on. Post a game save, and we'll critique it for you.

ok thanks, yeah im upgraded to Tribal Council instead of Despotism, i have alot of Units cus i didnt know they costed money, thanks for that info man, i also have 3 cities but i couldnt get more cus of lack of money and unable to build settlers, ill reset and keep your advice in mind, thanks dude, great site you guys got here

They enable you to build different units, city improvements and wonders. Make further government types available, enable you to see resources on the map, etc.

um, okay but HOW do i build those new units, it still only has the Settler/Warrior/Worker/Archer, or w/e

To build horses/chariots, you need to have the strategic resource horses. Found a city nearby so that it's in your territory, and then build a road to all your other cities so they can build horses.

I'm playing my first ever Demigod, chose the settings to give myself a bit of an advantage, so it's not going too bad ;)
I'm alone on one continent and Germans, Americans and Hittites are on the other.
We are towards the end of middle ages, (nobody's got astronomy/see edit), all but me have navigation.

This is puzzling me:
I can trade luxuries with America, but not the others.
Why? They all seem to be in the exactly same position, and there's no wars.

Here's the save

edit: I don't mean astronomy, I mean magnetism, of course. Sorry about that.

As Ginger Ale said you also need the strategic resource "Horses." Now if you have (a) Horseback Riding, (b) this resource within your cultural borders then all the cities that have a road connection to this tile can build horsemen.

I'm not sure - I don't think you need to have Navigation, just for them to have navigation. CivAssist II says you can trade luxuries with them, but they won't have anything you don't have to offer. Good luck with your game.

F4 says, I don't have a trade route with them.
They have harbours, I have harbours, they're on the same continent as the Americans who I can trade with.
