I may have asked this before, but I can't seem to remember the answer. Let's assume (hypothetically, of course) that I sold a tech for gpt payments. About halfway through the purely hypothetical payment period, I decide that I really don't need the money and I'd really much rather have the land on which the Hitt. . . , um, my hypothetical trading partner's cities sit . . . If I park a submarine so that one of their frigates trips over it getting out of port (which, of course, results in their declaring war on me :mischief:), do I take a rep hit? What about if I'm giving some per-turn item as part of the bargain? If the answer to these is, "No, silly Aabraxan, of course there's no rep hit," is it considered an exploit?

You won't take the rep hit. I don't think it's considered an exploit but there are moral implications to taking advantage of the invisible unit bug. The AI does some wierd things once subs are around... like signing a MPP with another AI then declaring war on the partner the same turn. You'd just be doing the same thing the AI does, only on purpose instead of accidently.

I believe that the answer is no, there's not a rep hit. Personally I would consider it an exploit, but I'm not sure if that's the official line or not.

In Conquests -- does clearing forests, jungles and swamps have any implications for global warming? I may be confusing my civ rules... I seem to recall that this action made global warming more likely but this could have been in Civ III vanilla or even Civ II.

Thanks

Just my $.02 here. If you've already completed your end of the bargain by giving a tech outright in return for gpt, that seems far less exploitive than doing the same thing when you are giving a per turn item in return. In the former case, the AI has already received full benefit from the trade and they get to keep their gold after declaring. In the latter, you both lose the traded items, but it seems the AI must have wanted what you offered or they wouldn't have agreed to the trade.

Interesting ethical question. :mischief:

I don't think you take a rep hit, but you probably will lose the ability to sign ROP.

I think you could probably just declare on them and all will be well.

Does the granary slow down growth?

(AFAIK, the granary forces you to get MORE food every time you grow so the granary is full).

No, it speeds up growth!

When your city grows in size, the Food Box will be half-full with a Granary, empty without one. (Exceptions: At City sizes 7 & 13, the Food Box will contain 10 & 20 food respectively.) :)

So the granary box never gets empty? :)

(Except at size 7 and 13, I mean)

Ah, The Pyramids.............Best General Wonder of the Game!

For High-Scoring games on Standard+-size maps, TP are Mandatory! (Perhaps I should have said Standard-size or Larger Maps!) :)

Okay, I haven't played in awhile. Played Civ4 more recently but just got civ3 back. I was wondering about unit grouping. I thought there was a select all option when right clicking on stack. I have conquest and downloaded the latest patch. Also, checked the faq shortcut control guide and says shift-click. I try shift clicking on units and every other way I can think of. I just can't remember how to group my guys together. Thanks for help..

Probably need this explained in better detail than just shift-click

If you want to move all of the units in a stack it's CTRL+j, then select just like your using Go-To.

How do you keep them in a constant group. Ctrl+j seems just to work for one move.
