@Marsden:
Step 1: Put the Civ3 Complete, Disc 1, in the CD-drive.

Step 2: Enter Windows Explorer, go to the following folder, as applicable:

A. For Vanilla... C:\Program Files\Atari\Civilization III Complete.... then dbl-click on Civilization3.exe

B. For PTW...... C:\Program Files\Atari\Civilization III Complete\civ3PTW ....then dbl-click on Civilization3X.exe

C. For C3C...... C:\Program Files\Atari\Civilization III Complete\Conquests .....then dbl-click on Civ3Conquests.exe......or just click Play when Disc 1 starts (as opposed to Exit).

For the future, set up a short-cut desktop/task-bar icon for each version you want to play. :)

Thank you EMan, I saw those folders, but did not explore enough.

Pressing "W" for a unit will put that unit into wait mode and go to the next idle unit. Although, in a turn you should always cycle through all units automatically, I'm not sure what is up.

Go to a leaderhead, check active deals (not new but active) then cancel peacefully. Note: the initial 20-turn deal must expire before you can do this.

Where could I get PTW scenarios?
+ is there a replacement for country leaders? (Catherine :D )

THere's a special forum for Conquests and threads for Conquests scens.... I guess I took a bad look :) will try and find stuff for PTW now....

Most of the *recent* stuff is for Conquests. If you dig deeper, you will find PTW and Vanilla stuff, as well. ;)

Edit: Look in Graphics Modpacks for leaderheads, and such. Look in Completed Scenarios and Completed Modpacks for scenarios/mods. As always, if you have questions, either post them in the relavent thread for that file, or ask in the main C&C forum. :)

Thank you very very much :) :thanx: !!!

I don't remember if it was available in the original Civ3, but in PTW and later you can go to the Foreign Advisor (F4) screen, and click on the "Active Trades" (or some such) tab, and then click on the leader you want to check with. The box will display all currently active deals with that Civ.

What works in *all* versions of Civ3 is to open diplomacy with the leader, ask to make a deal, and at the bottom of the screen, click the "Active Deals" text. This will display the deals that are currently active. (This is slower to use to chek *all* civs for active deals, as you have to open diplomacy with each one, but it *does* work in all versions. ;))

Hmmm...
I couldn't patch my game to 1.29f. The install started, worked, finished installing but it didn't have any effect. It's not written Version 1.29f at the bottom :(.

The versions before 1.29f have this?

[civ3] Complete (we need a smilie for Civ3 Complete, not just Conquests)

In the first game that I'm playing, (I'm Scandanavia, Chieftain level, Continents, 70% Water, all other defaults), 4 other civs (Byzantines, Spain, Korea, and the Dutch), no one is capable of trading maps. I'm heading into the Industrial Age, no one else has a map to trade. Is this a bug? Or is there something else that I need to do in order to trade maps? Or can you NOT trade maps anymore?

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before.

Is there a way to fix a starting location on the map? In the Euroepan Gigantic map every time I start I get thrown to Australia, Far East or Argentina, but not Russia where the map location is set. Where is the option to stay in predetermined locations? In PTW, French if possible (i.e my Civ is in French  )

Anomaly: Civ3 Complete = Conquests (plus PTW, plus "Vanilla"), so it doesn't *really* need its own smiley. ;)

In Conquests, Map Trading has been moved to be enabled with the discovery of Printing Press. So even if you all can *Make* Maps, you can't trade them until later.

Gelion: You can fix the positions in the Editor, but I'm not a good one to explain how.

Gelion - on the toolbar below File - Edit - etc., you should see some buttons: terrain, resources, and overlay (use mouseover to read descriptions). If you click overlay, you'll get a menu; select "Starting Location". Then you can place the blue circles on any tile on the map so people will start there. To assign them to a particular civilization, just right click them and select "Assign".

You might also want to change the civilization distances value under the World Sizes tab in the Edit Rules section (I think it's "Starting Distance" or something similar, so that the rule is that civilizations should start around X tiles from you).
