Can anyone tell me where you can find the world seed for a map you are playing?

In CAII, right click on any tile in the world map and select properties. It will give you the seed number and all the game settings. It's disabled for GOTM/COTM, though.

I never use the World map tab because it reveals the map on my computer.

That's a shame. I wonder why? World Map in CAII is great with all its view options. I've read several times lately that CAII reveals if a bg is under a forest. This doesn't work in the latest version (at least on my computer) and is listed under bug fixes in the CAII version history.

Thanks Splunge for the infomation on micromanaging.

In the preferences tab, what is the option "show city population dropshadow" and what does it do?

About the world seed: Another way to get it is to choose "play last world" – then the seed number appears in the field where you can enter a seed number, on the screen where you choose your world.

I wondered if that would not do it but I was afraid I was stuck with the whole thing at that point. but you can get the seed and then start over.

But thats for Play the World right? I have conquests, and it doesn't have that in the menu.

You should have it. I downloaded an alternate Title screen for Conquests and that is at the top of the list of choices. Start New Game is 2nd. I have used it actually when I rather liked my start location but had screwed up my play just about from turn 1.

Dropshadow is a graphical effect on text that makes it appear to be floating in front of, and casting a shadow on, the background. Take screenshots with and without the option checked, then zoom in on a city's population number to see the difference. Be sure to scroll the map after changing the option, though, because it isn't applied until the map is repainted.

The 'Play Last World' option is not available if the last world was a scenario or mod.

Well, here is my Main Menu:

MainMenu2.jpg

and it does not say "Play Last World".

And Darski, what do you mean by "List of Choices"?

As I stated, the option is not always available. Start a new game, then return the the main menu. The option should then be available. In any case, you should install the most recent patch.

the choices would be the things you can choose from
Play last world
Load game
Start New Game
etc.

As Mathias said, the option "Play last world" isn't always available. The option, if available, would be above "New Game" on the screen you posted, Meteor Man.

1.00 is the version number. I do not have patch 1.22 on my system because it wouldn't install. Does everyone else have patch 1.22 and they're main menu says "Play Last World" also?

This is the one that I am now using...

It does not show the "Play Last World" option but I do get it when I choose to start a new game from inside the game... as was mentioned.

Edited to add new info...

I took that screen shot when I loaded up my game. it is Complete so it is 1.22. I do have an incomplete game in my files so that may be why I can "play last world"

I believe there is enough of the screenshot to show that it is the same pic as what I downloaded as above.

If you select new game, you then get to the screen to select your world. In the upper right corner it will have a place to enter a seed number.

As I said before, the Patch does not seem to work on my computer, and makes it so that Conquests can't start. i've tried multiple times to get it to work, and it never works.
