still playing warlord on huge world. The improvments to the palace screen hadn't popped up in this game until around 1600 when all of a sudden I got about 14 improvments do to it at one time.

Is this a glitch or is it because I wasn't getting WLTK days due to very poor luxuries till I traded for them?

Not very important but was just wondering.

thanks

Not sure why this happens. It's not a glitch, just seems to happen infrequently. Sometimes it'll happen all at once (like in you're game) but sometimes it'll never tell you, and when you manually access it you can build. Pretty weird, I know...

Also, one trigger of a palace build is a Wonder, not sure every wonder gives you one, but a few do. Also, building your second city (as mentioned earlier) and going to a new age (middle, industrial, modern) also does it.

I remember being very surprised in a game when I got to build on the palace after my 2nd city was built. It was the first time that had ever happened. I usually was getting closer to the BC-AD changeover and I thought that triggered the start of palace building. :hmm:

Now it comes when it comes and half the time, I could care less as I have more important things to do

This is just a curious question which I am eager to know. Whenever I have completed the game through a domination victory or acquired most resources in a standard map or a larger map, the leaderhead in the trade screen ALWAYS says "We should acquire more resources". Will the same statement be made even if you acquire ALL the possible resources in the game? I remember that I acquired ALL the possible resources in a tiny map once but as the map was tiny, not ALL resources are 2 or more of the same type.

If one was to acquire ALL resources in a standard or larger map, will a different statement be shown in the trade screen? Thanks!

You can largely ignore anything your advisors tell you. They pretty much just whine about needing more funding or complain about stuff you already know about. The only thing they are good for, generally, is reporting stuff like how other Civs feel toward you (foreign advisor), your military strength in comparison to other civs (military advisor), and.. well, thats all I can think of thats really useful. The trade guy really only helps you when you're doing deals with other civs... he'll let you know when your proposed trade is bogus, close to home, or right on... which is sometimes a good thing, because you can piss off rival civs if you try and shaft them too much. :deal:

I think the trade advisor learned that phrase at a Re-education camp so it is all (s)he can say anymore. Bartleby and I both posted screenies with almost every resource and tons of them but our respective TA's were still complaining.

Well the key word you used here is "ALMOST". What if you have ALL resources and luxuries? Will the trade advisor continue to whine by stating that "we should acquire more resources?"

Yes. When he has nothing else to say, he will still say that. Ignore the little prick and move on with your life.

Part of me wishes you could edit what they say, and just change their go-to phrase to something like "I got nuthin'."

you can. It's all in the "text" folder -- [edit] script.txt if I'm not very much mistaken.

Well the problem is do I need to know computer language to do this? Must I have a firm grasp of programming? How do you do that? What if there ARE still resources to be linked to and the TA says "I got nothing to say" as a result of my edit?

There is nothing he can tell you that isn't obvious. Can't build infantry? You don't need know-it-all TA to tell you that you need to aquire some rubber! Do yourself a favor, familiarize yourself with the resources and luxuries and figure out what you need for yourself. Then reprogram the TA to say "I'm a stupid idiot, please don't listen to me and go back to your world domination."

And not really... its a fairly simple text file. All you have to do is scroll through and find the line that says "We should aquire some more resources!" and type in something else. A good idea would be to save that .txt file in a different folder somewhere else on your computer before you make any changes, just in case you screw up. Then you can re-instate the back-up copy and not have a broken game.

Building the city clears the jungle. Any disease you get in that city is due to a citizen working a jungle tile around the city.

This is true, but building on a floodplain DOES incur a permanent risk of disease. Unlike jungle, floodplain is not treated as an overlay, and you can't remove a citizen from the center tile.

Doesn't sanitation remove disease from floodplains?

yes it does, but UNTIL you get sanitation, you have the penalty

If I load Marines (& only Marines) into an Army, will the Army have amphibious attack?

No, I do not believe they will. Also, paratroopers can't airdrop in an army either... yes I know it's stupid but that's how it works

Yes, marine-only armies do have amphibious attack in C3C. I have used this myself many times and they are devastating. Not so good on defense though, especially if injured after capturing a town. Myth5 is correct that paratrooper armies cannot perform an airdrop.

Yes I have done marine armies a few times, they retain the amphip trait, as long as you have only marines.

Well I don't remember them being amphibious.. oh well :hmm:
