I was playing Civ3 when the order buttons (fortify, disband, etc.) moved from the bottum of the screen to the right! How do I fix that?

Hit the Backspace or Insert button, not sure which one.

Backspace toggles the command buttons between the bottom and right side of the screen. Delete hides/shows the minimap, info box, and the buttons in the top left.

Wondering if someone can just help me out quickly – I remember reading on here somewhere a rough guide as to what you should build (city improvements) in “food cities” and in “production or shield cities” – the whole city specialisation thing.

Wondering if someone can refresh my memory as to what these things are … and if there are any that should go in both food and shield cities.

Final thing – “combo cities” – ones which can produce food/settlers/workers as well as shield-orientated units, etc – what are people’s attitudes towards them, good or bad and why?

I agree about it being a good topic for a separate thread. In a perfect world (Civ world) all cities would be productive for ALL purposes. I'm still looking for that perfect map.

Can you also hide the unit command icons instead of toggling their relative positions?

Delete hides them also. Try it.

AFAIK, there are no language conversion patches. You're stuck buying the english version or learning enough spanish to play.

How come when i capture an enemy base on another continent it doesnt share resources with my main territory. I have a harbor and a visible trade route with no fog of war between the two. No enemy ships anywhere and i can sail the ocean squares without any danger.

Hello...

I just found this game, and I think I like it! But... I've played through two games already, both were America and ol Abe. I went all the way through all the phases, all the way to future technologies, and to the point where the game itself makes you retire, and despite all the technology, never once have I been able to make a plane, jet, or metal ship of any kind.

Robotics, lazers, and miniturization - but can't build an airplane or a ship.

What am I missing?
