I would expect so, but I never built one, nor have I read of a town flipping with one in it. I just do not play as a commie. Well I only make one switch period, either monarchy or rep and do not research any optional govs.

How do i get the player made units (fully made and everything:cool: ) to work with civIII? I have v1.29f patch for CivIII. I have CivIII original not PTW or Conquest.

Oh BTW the units are the Desert tanks, the Ratwarrior and Bodyguard.

Presuming you've d/l'ed the units from a thread here at CFC, I would ask in that thread.

Usually, if not always, there is some kind of readme.txt file distributed with the unit, and/or instructions available in the host thread.

Worse comes to worst, PM the creator. They should be able to tell you.

The formula for determining Anarchy length has *two* components: a value of 1 - 3, based on Empire size, and a random number from 0 - 5. (IIRC)

I don't know what value you can set in the editor. If it actually *is* the maximum anarchy length, then you might be running into what some considered a "bug" in C3C (the developers said they just changed it to how it was *intended* to work ;)). Let's say you start your turn by switching governments. For the rest of that turn, you are in Anarchy. Then for the whole next turn, you are still in Anarchy. You don't get to choose another government until the turn after that.

Now consider the exploit that this fixed: You switch governments as the *last* thing you do ina turn. The next turn, you immediately get to choose a new government. Thus you spent virtually no time in Anarchy. The intent of the developers was that you spend *at least* one full turn in Anarchy.

Hi,

I've got the editor set for max transition time between govt's to 1 for my difficulty level.

Yet it takes more, sometimes 3 turns. Am I doing something wrong or is it a broken function or something?

Thank you
The max transition time is for the AI.

Here I am back again -- I just made my decision between Civ III and Civ IV. I picked up Civ III complete. It isn't installed yet, I've been busy. Getting ready to. Up until now, I have only had Civ III vanilla. I hardly know how to play the game. I can win at Chieftan though, I suppose mostly by luck. At what point should I become interested in Mod packs etc., right away? Play a few more games and get familiar with how to play? Any suggestions on how this newbie can have his best Civ experience? I wouldn't be here if I wasn't already addicted.

We are all addicted and from what I see in this house with three of us playing III and IV we all see the game differently and play differently. One of these games we will play each other and probably have our own war going.

I just had fun for a while and then tried different ways to win.

Some of the Mods are great.

If you're a true addict and want to see what the experts do and say, check out the Hall Of Fame Tables (HOF) and the Game Of The Month (GOTM) for starters. You can download positions from these top players' games.

In the corresponding forums, the experts give their advice and reasons for doing what they do. :)

BTW, good choice on Complete (No additional patching). Conquests is satisfactory for most games, but occasionally, if you're competing in the HOF, Civ/PTW is required for a top score! (I.e. Tiny Map, Monarch level, Conquest Victory.) ;)

To answer your question about modpacks, on a personal note, I've been playing Civ 3 since it came out in November 2001 and haven't got around to using any modpacks...........yet!! (Utility programs.........Ooooooooooh YES!!)

(Bin too busy on HOF/GOTM.)

The point here is to see what gives you the most pleasure..........y'know, different strokes for different folks! (Echo scloopy.) :)

CivAssist II and or Mapstat (CPRsuite) in the utilities forum, both topped.

Oh I don't use mods other than things like popheads and the interface, just cosmetics.

Well the thread is very long and probably has that sort of thing, but really the "best" is what you need. Just experiment till you find what you want to know most often.
