But it's not exactly like that... for instance, in a PBEM I'm currently playing, I have more culture in my capital than my teammate (4000+ compared to about 3500), and one less population point, but he has the top city in the game (I'm second now). He has four wonders and I have two. I think his culture per turn rate might be slightly higher than mine (40 or so compared to 35 or so). So how does it work?

 If what you have described is correct, i have no idea.

Whoops, wrong game. I was actually referring to Civ4 by mistake. :D (I get confused between the two threads because they are named exactly the same, down to the last apostrophe, in the two forums, so they appear exactly the same in my email. ;) )

Phew. I can still be right. :D

You're right, they do.

This thread, however, has been around longer. :smug:

do you think that the game would be a little more fun if they put mini games in it?

I like Civ 3 but once you got around the basics of everything it gets kind of boring but I think if I wait a little while it would be fun again. I am still waiting on that patch and since atari has stopped caring it might take forever to patch it with the no cd patch.

You can play a variant set of self imposed rule to make it harder and there is a thread to explain some possibilities. Conquest has a harder level called Sid.

There will be no further patches and they already created a no CD version that they apparently offer to some users with issues.

As to fun, either you find the game fun or you do not, not much can be done about that.

What is the best use of an early Scientific Great Leader? I just got one from writing, but the only GW available to me is the Pyramids. Should I just build thatnow, or wait until I can build something more... useful? I have Ivory, so the SoZ is an option...

I am India, for the record.

You can hold Scientific Great Leaders without penalty. You can even hold multiple at once. So if you want to wait for a better Wonder, do so.

(Caveat: I think if you are holding a SGL, you may not be able to get a MGL.)

Just, whatever you do, don't waste him on a "Scientific Golden Age". ;)

Don't worry, I've experienced those before. I wanted to be the smartest, but it had the opposite effect.

The thing is, I don't want to keep him. I want something that will benefit me now. The Pyramids would help me grow faster, but I was also thinknig Temple of Artemis-- although the Pyramids do not expire. I will probably get the Pyramids.

did you know that you mispelled mabye in your second to last post on this thread
*Dies laughing*

hey take the pyramid so you can have granarys in every city that you own on the same continent

Pyramids are maybe the most useful wonder in the game.

Available early.
Drives growth.
good culture
Never expires
Tourist attraction

what's not to love? Maybe the GLib or, depending on the map, the lighthouse are better, but I usually find that the AI that builds the pyramids is the strongest in the mid game.

Build the Pyramids. You just can't go wrong with them, they're good no matter what level or style you play.

(except archipelagos, where GLH is the wonder of choice)
