I think the military academy is another awesome small wonder
1. It's not available yet, you need Military Tradition and a victorious army to build it.

2. It's only 400 shields, which is not a big deal in the late IA

3. It's worthless unless positioned in a very high-shield city, which should be able to build it in a short time.

I would consider rushing the ToA if you already have The Oracle. If you're the only one with Ivory, you can hand-build the SoZ.

Pyramids are maybe the most useful wonder in the game.

Available early.
Drives growth.
good culture
Never expires
Tourist attraction

what's not to love? Maybe the GLib or, depending on the map, the lighthouse are better, but I usually find that the AI that builds the pyramids is the strongest in the mid game.
I rarely have trouble with tech. I play at regent, so I can still outresearch the AI.

I opted to take the Pyramids, but that game is put on hold for my first ever story!

Such a shame... and to think of all the wonderful things I could have learnt about the game I've played for five years from this demigod... ;)

Anyway, I suppose we'd better sort ourselves out before the mods do it for us... I think this used to be a question thread, didn't it? :D

heh, thanks, didnt think of looking in there...:p

another question: does airlifting units through airports take up their movement points? :scan:

I'm almost certain that's a yes, as well. :)

I know this may be funny
when I try to make a map with the Editor I have that funny problem with the properties menu that I can't get to the ok (or accept or done ,never been there) icon because the menu is too long I bring it all the way up the screen and yet can't get to the ok I even tried to change the pixels but it didn't work
how can get to the accept button ?

The window is one that can be grabbed and move with the mouse. Unfortunately it will not move up very much. Did you increase the display settign to say one or two above 1024?

Sometimes you can't do that, if the screen won't support it. My laptop is that way.

What I do, when on the laptop, is move that box as high up as I can. Then you can just barely see the ok button. You also might try using the autohide function on the taskbar, that might work too. I haven't tried that, because it annoys me. You could also try turning off 'Keep Taskbar on top of other windows'.

Interface: I've seen tons of references to whether someone is playing Vanilla, C3C or PTW. I have Civ III Complete. Am I automatically playing one version or another? I haven't seen anything in the startup screen to indicate that I can choose a version to play. Am I just overlooking it?

Information: When I pull up terrain information on a given square, does the information that pops up include any adjustments for my civilization's traits? Or is it just the basic numbers that all civilizations would have, to be later modified by my traits?

Thanks in advance for the information.

Interface: You play Conquests by default. To play PTW or Vanilla (but WHY?), you have to explicitly start that version. (I think you have to go to your Civ3 folder and double-click the appropriate .exe file.)

Information: I believe it is just the basic numbers.

No, I think it shows the modified numbers. I've seen something like this somewhere. I might be wrong. I'll check it out.

Edit: Now I am sure, yes, it shows the modified numbers. There is a thread in this forum (Best start location, or something like that), where someone posted a picture which was there to prove that agri civs got 4 food out of a desert with oasis. And he proved it by posting the picture where you could see the tile info, which did show 4 food.
