There's a command to "move units as stack." Your faster units will have to sacrifice some of their movement points at the end of the turn, but they'll be on the same tile as the slower ones. It's either X or J or Ctrl-X or Ctrl-J (I forget which one), and there are buttons on top of the square at the lower right corner that will allow this. Hover your cursor over the various buttons there and a description of the button's command will pop up.

Edit: X-post.

I'm playing Diety Civ3 v1.29

If I buy and plant a spy in another nation's embassy -

1. can that nation discover my spy?

2. If that nation can discover my spy in their embassy, will that cause that nation to get angry with me and be a reason for that nation to declare war on me?

3. In Civ3, do nations ever bother to discover spys? (in Diety mode)?

Thanks!!

Yes they can discover a spy. They will only execute it, not delcare war, unless it was caught trying to carry out espionage. Nations do at times catch spies at all levels, just not that frequently.

That's good. I wanted to put a spy in every civ, but was afraid that any of those civs would expose them and declare war.

If the spies are exposed (and killed), do I take any reputation hit? (forgot to ask that)

Thanks!

Woah, this thread like completely didn't catch my attn.... scary.....

neway: Where do I find the folder to install scenarios? I've never installed one even though I've been playing Civ3 practically since it came out (although for the longest time it wouldn't work on my comp, but I just bought gold, and it works. YAY!!!)

I can't find it anywhere!!!!!!! :depression:

All scenario files should go in the scenario file of the game's directory. I'm not sure which expansion packs are in Gold, so I can't really be more specific than that... Could someone help out here? :p

I just bought Civ3 because it was only $10 and I'm trying to learn all about it but I have a minor question. I've looked at the manual and other places but don't see that answer.

I built a city on a forest square. (I right-clicked on the tile beforehand and it said 1 Food, 2 Shields, 0 Gold). However, after the city is built, the little icons on the city are 1 Shield, 3 Food, and 2 Gold (I think).

I'm just a little confused by this. Why is there only 1 Shield if I built my city on a forest square which is 2 shields?

First off, welcome to CFC. :)

Second, when you found a city on forest (or jungles, for that matter), the forest gets cleared.

Aside from that, city squares will always produce two food, unless your civ is Agricultural and the city by a river. Then it will produce three.

Bold part is my little addendum.

:)

My city is by a river, hence the 3 Food then..so, the food production on a city tile isn't really determined by the terrain? (i know it is for the surrounding tiles where the laborers work, i guess i'm confused with the difference in the tiles in the city radius and the actual city tile.)

Okay, the forest is cleared, So does that mean that the tile is now Plains, and so that is why the city tile yields 1 shield?

Thanks guys.

Nope. All city centers, unless agri next to a river or lake, produce 2 food, one shield, and two commerce.

Unless you're industrious, then after size 6 you get an extra shield in the center square. Or is it 12? I never remember.

Commercial might get an extra commerce in the center square as well.

All Agri cities produce another food as well if your govt is not despo.

And there are some resources which give an additional shield. I'm pretty sure that a plains fur and an iron hill are among them. I think the rule is that, if tile naturally generates two shields, you get them.

After you clear a forest, the resulting tile can be plains, but also grassland. :)

Then it'll be hard to get a scenario/mod which will work... Try going to the near end pages of mods and scenarios, those should be original civ.

Yeah, most scenarios these days are for conquests.

All the same, if you do find one, all the files should be stored in

(civ 3 directory) ->civ3 -> PTW -> Scenarios.

If there are files aside from the bix, they should be in their own folder. The .bix should be on it's own inside the scenario folder.
