Not stupid. At the very bottom of the center panel while making a deal with your chosen civ, you'll see it say Current, and Active. Click on Active.

Also, if you want to renegotiate every deal after the twenty turns are up, there's an option in the Preferences called Always renegotiate deals. The AI will contact you every twenty turns to renew it. :)

Edit: you need to click on We propose a deal, then Active is at the bottom of the "table". :)

You'd be surprised how often veteran with a good overall grasp of the game will miss small stuff like this. You certainly aren't the first.

My method for breaking a deal has always been to click "always re-negotiate" the turn before I want to do it.

The user interface is as intuitive as the manual is complete

It actually took me a good year or so before I figured that exact same thing out myself, and that was only by asking a similar question here. :)

Hey everyone. This is a great idea for a thread, and the forum gives a good first impression because of it. But to my point....

I've found that moving the science slider has no effect on the number of turns to develop new research. My income is 94, and I'm at the start of the Middle Ages using a Monarchy. I'm playing on TETurkhan's map with cities.

Thanks.

I know nothing of TETurkhan's map but what I do know is that your income is not sufficient to research any faster than the game minimum. Income for research can be inceased by getting more cities, making sure that all the tile that your cities are working are roaded and building libraries (if that fits in with your game plan). You may also want to consider Republic as it will increase your income as long as your units are not too numerous.

It's also possible (though less likely) that you've hit the maximum research rate. This is 4 turns in the normal, unmodded game if I recall correctly.

Also, if it says it will take 8 turns to research at different percentages, ex. at 70% and 80%, you can safely turn it down to save the extra money. This is especially helpful on the last turn before discovery.

BTW, Welcome to CFC  [party]

If you're really obsessed about how to get the least amount of waste out of your research, use CAII to find out how many beakers are left about three turns from the end. Then figure out how best to move the the slider up and down among the turns in order to minimise wastage.

Yes, I have done this.

OK. I gotta ask. What should I be watching out for at the end of my GA?
It shows your shields and commerce as though you still as in GA and calculates things that way. So if you think a build is about to finish, it may not. Worst is that some cities may go into riot because you are producing less luxes than it shows.
