Okay, my question applies to Civ3 Edit. I want to start making my own accurate maps, like maps of the world and of different continents. First, I didn't find anything in the tutorials section, just leaderheads and stuff like animations. Second, what programs, if any besides civ edit, do i need to make maps like these? And third, can someone point out a or some tutorials that they know works for making maps to a huge n00b in accurate map making, I know the basics just nothing more advanced. Please help.:)

Is there a way to rush the Universal Sufferage great wonder? I sent my military great leader to the city I was trying to build it in but the icon wasn't available and my advisor said that I we can't rush Universal sufferage. Is there a way?

Military Great Leaders can no longer rush any wonders in the Conquests expansion. Instead, Scientific Great Leaders step into this role. :)

Drat. :( I have to find some way I can beat the Hittites to it or my whole strategy is screwed. I hope I can get my explorers to their capital to pillage in time. Maybe then I'll have a chance. Do you think I should try chopping the 2 forests nearby my city to hurry production?

Chopping the forests might help a little. If you have a spy, you could try to sabotage their production. You could declare war and take the city that's building it, if that's a feasible option. There are probably more options that I haven't thought of. :)

No it won't! You can only rush Great Wonders with SGL's!

No chopping forest, no disbanding, not rush-buying no pop-rushing and no MGL-rushing. And if you use any of these methods on a non-GW structure, then you can not switch production to a GW without first emptying the production-box.

You can rush small wonders and other structures with MGL though, you can also rush a palace with one.

My advice would be to capture the wonder from the AI, and use the shields to build the units you will use for this capture.

Ah, that's right, thanks for correcting me. I'm thinking in terms of Civ4 it seems. :)

You can however use Civil Engineers to speed production of Wonders. This can be particularly useful in a city with much waste & corruption. ;)

I've been doing the merging workers thing as much as I could but I haven't had the chance to to build the hospital there so I can't go above 10. And the most productive tiles seem to only provide one food too, so that leaves a shortage in food. (Drawing out from the granery.)

I just managed to research Espionage and I might have use my MGL to rush the intelligence agency. The only problem is now I have 2 wonders I need to savatage from them. They're going to beat me on the Scientific Method too! I don't know what it is but there's something strange about that AI in this game. Ever since they switched governments it's been going haywire will fickle war allegiences and embargos, not too mention their citizens have no unhappiness at all. And they're the richest civ in the game.

Anyway, so chopping the forrest doesn't work, or disbanding... Tell me what you think I should doo... Scientific Method is 3 turns away. I was thinking rushing the agency and savataging that. I got a ship full of Explorers and a Calvary on the way to their coast, so I could plunder their most productive shield improvements (mines). They're 11 turns away from Universal Suffrage, and I am about 20.

Is this a pick your poison kind of thing? I'm too far away to invade them and they have a more advance military anyhow. What do you think I should do?

Yes.

You can use external map editors like listed in my sig. or look at what is here.

Chops will not be applied to a great wonder. Why do you care about the US, just smite thy enemies.

Your city should be able to get to size 12 without a hospital. If you're short of food there, irrigate some grassland or plains tiles until you have enough.

Besides espionage, what techs have you researched so far? When you're trying to get ToE, I generally just research steam power->electricity->RP->medicine->scientific method. If I want to use US as a prebuild for ToE or Hoover, I'll snag industrialization, too.

What government are they in now? If it's fascism (which is likely if they've been as aggressive as you say), they don't get war weariness.

As vmxa said, chopping doesn't speed up wonders, and neither does disbanding. Unless you've got a prebuild for ToE or can build it faster elsewhere, switch US to ToE when scientific method comes in as Aabraxan suggested.

Hard to say. How much more advanced? Do they have infantry and artillery? What about tanks? What do you have? It might be good to start a thread on this game and post a save--there's no "quick answer" for this one.

I just installed a complete graphics (terrain/Rhye's) mod pack and my game crashed for the first time ever. Is it likely these two things are related?

secondly,I forgot to back up my resources dot pcx file because it was ...just one of those things.... If I restore my old less yellow modpack, would it be acceptable to ask someone to send me a copy of the vanilla resources pcx file?

I know this should likely go in tech support but those guys expect you to know what you are talking about... that is a challenge for me at the best of times but with computers

And... can I play the game (I was playing) if I change the graphics back or is it lost?

Thanks for the answers everyone. I'll try to fill in the details...

-The problem is I only get one sheild (if even that) on some of those tiles so it slows down my build in what is a drag race. (The Mayans are also building it).

-I am up to Industrialization, Electricity, and Scientific Method. I made a mistake and called the wonder Theory of Evolution scientific method in my earlier post. I actually meant that the Hittites are 3 turns away from that wonder as well. I really wanted the free techs that comes with it, as I am 2-3 techs behind the Hittites.

-They are in communism. So you are right, they do not get war weariness. I get an abundance of it however if I do not funnell all my funds into luxories. This is why the Universal Suffrage is so valuable to me, and why waging war to get it would actually hold me back a bit. If there is another way, I need to take that other way.

-The problem is (As just mentioned) they are 3 turns away from ToE. I am behind on both wonders, as they got the techs just before me.

They have replacement parts and have Infantry. They also have Coorperation and I think they are about to get another key tech. I have tried to trade with them and other civs for replacement parts but no one seems to want to give it up. So if I research it at 70% I can have it in 7 turns.

Thanks for your help guys! I'll take the advice you give me and let you know how it goes.

Oh, one more thing. The are across the ocean and with only 4 ships in my arsenal, you can't even say that I have a navy. I've been too busy smiting my enemies Egypt and Persia. ;) (This game is kind of like real life hystory. Crush Egypt to the left, then Persia to the Right. :king: )

First if you want a wonder, plan ahead. That means getting an idea of when you will have the tech needed for the wonder. Then starting a prebuild at the time that is calculated to get enough shields at the time the tech comes in.

If you wait till you get the tech, you must have a site that can make enough shields to build the wonder before others can do it.

Second it is very hard to give useful advice on complex issues without a save. Best to start a thread and post a save.

Anyway this thread is really for quick answers, rather than ongoing responses.
