With Military Alliances... do you get notice that it has expired/will expire?

I am pretty sure the Russians bailed on me but I was a little busy fighting the French at the time.

On that note, 2 quick questions, the first as a follow up Q to Darski's...

1.If you do a sneak attack OR break a 20 year deal by declare war (one or the other but NOT both) is it possible to regain your trading rep with other civs? Reason I ask is because I have not once done that the game I'm now playing but I have had other civs do that to me on more occasions than I can remember to count. I lost alot of gpt and luxories because a Civ decided they wanted to join an alliance against me or just declare war. Then I saw an instance where I though I had to bail on my one deal with the inca because they were about to get a wonder I needed on my continent (and they were on another) and I had to pillage them with my battleship.

Question number 2: What is the best city spacing formation per government to maximize the strengths of given government? I.E. Does Commy use optimal (CxxxxC) spacing, then Rep, then Demo, etc. What's the best spacing for each of the governments?

I am having problems with patch version 1.27f.

Both machines on a wireless network, working on patched 1.27f, but when the host checks off the 'ready' for the game configuration (with an open field for incoming player), no game is visible to join from the other computer?

I do not know if there is something special to look out for?

1. Both computers are in the same house
2. Both computers are using patch 1.27f
3. Both computers clikc onteh LAN option
4. One computer becomes host and clicks ready with specific game spec.
5. Even with a 'refresh' the other computer does not register the game.

Both computers are connected to the network - ok.

What else might I be doing wrong?

Please help!

PS: firewalls have also been deactivated.

@RODP: For every government except communism, the best city spacing is CxxC in the core and semi-core and CxCxC everywhere else for unit support and specialist farms. For communism, your whole empire is one giant core, so you don't want to use CxCxC anywhere. I don't know about using OCP in communism since I rarely use that government, but you'd want CxxC at the very least.

once again with the MA's.

I got Zulu and the English to agree to ally with me against the Germans. Well Liz bailed within about 15 turns but Shaka will not go for peace and I am completely hamstrung because of the stupid alliance. I can't get peace... not that there was ever a real war - because the Rep hit will do me in for the rest of the game.

Do these things never end? I keep checking at the end of every turn and it is still there. he is getting frisky and making (useless) demands so I don't think he will continue for much longer.

Yes shaka. We are at peace and in alliance against Germany

So he's demanding stuff from you? And when you say 'No' he just goes about his business? Am I understanding this right?

yes. he wanted a tech for nothing which I take to mean that he has war plans down the road

Could be. Or just being Shaka.

As long as you have military parity with him, you should be able to refuse his demands.

he is still running around with his impi's (?) and my cavalry would have a thing or two to say about war

My concern is that the MA is still in place. I can't get a peace treaty with Germany while the MA is in place

Right. Are you actively fighting Germany tho? If not, you can just sit tight until Shaka sues them for peace.

yeah that is what I have been doing. I can keep busy with the other wars as they arise... sigh Thanks though. gotta love that crazy shaka
