On a Mac, you take a screen shot with Control-Shirt-3.
Gentlemen, you are all assuming that I Like Pies is on a Windows box. If he is on a Mac, the advice you are giving him is worse that useless. On a Mac, you take a screen shot with Control-Shirt-3. I then put it in either Preview, Photoshop Elements, or Photoshop, and edit it. I probably could use Iphoto as well, just have not tried it. For that matter, Appleworks also is usable.
thanks overseer
The americans are really beaten down maybe four small towns all surounded by Arab cities. Have gifted them all my defensive sciences but wouldn't have huge faith in them standing up to the arabs. Likewise I wouldn't feel very comfortable getting into an extended war with the Arabs.
I would prefer to hold out for the first vote and see how it goes and at that point if it's a hung vote I will try the war option in the round before the next vote
Somewhere around 80%, maybe 70%. If you can use CA2, you can look in the Economy tab to see how much good a courthouse will do in any given city.Question:
What is the corruption cutoff point at?
In other words, what corruption level separates the viable cities from the specialist farms?
Good move on setting up choke points. Now use the arty and bombers to redline units and do some leader-fishing.. . . . Have only lost two cities to the arabs and taken a lot of their units out with artillary and rushed bombers as they move their troops through chock points.
By knocking the snot out of them.Whats the best way to get them to the talk peace?
Their mounting unit losses
bomding their cities?
my cities lasting X number of attacks?
Allowing the AI to expend the brunt of its attack against your defenses is not an uncommon tactic. Once it has done that, it will send units piecemeal against you. At that point, put together an offensive and go start taking cities. Take some "combat workers" and "combat settlers" along to build roads and rails and build cities at key points on the map.Sofar my approach is been a mix of blunting their attack forces with artillary and bombers. Then when the weakend forces head to repair in their cities I pick them off as I feel this may have the biggest impact for least risk for me. Even if it means a small number of their units get to try themselves against my cities.
Why can't you win? IIUC, there's just you and the Arabs left. At Warlord, everything is more expensive for the AI, so unless they've outrun you pretty badly, you can outproduce them in short order. It sounds like you're in little danger of losing cities, so shore them up and let the Arabs flatten their bullets against your soldiers for a while, keep bombing them, then go on the attack.I clearly can't win at this stage but feel I can posibly learn some good miltarty tatics here as my last games where quite peacefull (First warload game) So any good defensive tips or ways to force a peace treaty?
thanks
For warmongering games, democracy is usually a less-than-stellar idea. If you were going to be warring a lot, you would have been better off to stick with Republic, or Monarchy for a really war-heavy game. The arabs have a huge empire I can't imagine being able to make much of a dint in it. I wouldn't even have the units avaible to even hold their cities. never mind take them.
I am a democracy and pretty broke. I am holding off most of their troops from their heartland. They have a range of captured american cities to my south I am very expossed to attack from here, it's only a matter of time however.
Define "huge," would you? The AI is notoriously bad at naval attacks. They have sent a huge force in ships to stomp on a recently discovered island contanent where I have three very lightly defended cities. Have been thinking of abandoning one or two of these and concentrating my forces there in one city (built on a hill) To tie them up trying to take one well defended city rather then let them take three poorly defended cities.
Are you talking about artillery bombardment or bombers? I don't think I'll know, either way, but I hope to clarify the question for someone who does know.If I stick a radar tower with some defensive units near my choke point will that make my bombardments more effective and extend there range. I have workers hiding in my cities at the moment so I could use them for this, if it would benfit?
Then chances are that they see you as weak. If you can kill off a bunch of their units without losing many, that should change.I am still very much in relearning zone from civ 2, So no offence. here looking for tips. Certainly got off to a bad start, had been hoping for a diplomatic victory recently but the arabs went from friendly to attacking me quite quickly.
Look around for some threads on games by zerksees called "recovering from last place," or something like that. Zerksees has an affinity for taking games thought to be lost and turning them around. Very interesting reading material.I don't think this is winnable but want to play it for experience of war and seeing how AI attacks. It's certainly has improved and seems willing to bypass heavily defended cities to go for weaker targets and act to protect it's forces as well.
Well, I still don't know the answer to your question, as I do not ever build radar arty, but hopefully someone will know. The bombarment is artillary and bombers
Sounds like a plan. The cities on the island are probably not producing much due to corroption and being quite new, so will I pull them back to one defensible city with the possability of taking them home at a later point if I can spare/protect a boat.
Probably, but it may be worth it to prevent having your government collapse. Which civ are you playing again? The Persians? Will I lose to much ground during anarchy now to switch to more war friendly goverment?
I think that's right. Maybe I misunderstood the question, but I thought Globex was asking when to start science farming.I think City Corruption maxes out at 90%.![]()
My pleasure.Thanks Abraxan
Sounds like a plan, but don't neglect attackers. Also, put raxes in your chokepoint cities for fast healing.Have fought the arabs to a standstill. They came to me for peace which I have signed so I can build up my war chest, upgrade the last of my units and build some anti aircraft ability as they now have bombers as well.
They only took one of my cities but it revolted back to me. Have switched goverments to a republic. Bulking up my mountain border with fortresses. Have also created a new choke point with fortress at the axcess point to a penisular that has my core cities.
I am sure they will start war again so I have picked two of their cities (which are somewhat surounded by my cities) to attack and take once that starts and am building an army with the intention of doing that.
Assuming that you're now going for conquest or domination, forget reputation. Sounds like the Arabs only have one thing that you want now: their cities.Seeing as I will never get them to like me and one else is left is repution now meaningless in the game?
Kind of linked to that, should I view nuclear weapons as an option or if I do will they just go mad and build loads if I start? I haven't got that capacity yet but would love to take out some of their big metros.
